So the GW expansions are gonna be more than pretty faces.

I know a character origin isn't a huge thing, but still it's nice that they're expanding the core game play.

Agreed.  I was sort of worried the expansions would just be more monsters.  I mean, I don't have a problem with that directly, except that I can design my own monsters if need be.

So what are the odds expansion 2 has another 20?

I was hoping for more character origins. Its one of the things i like about the new Ed.

I don't know what to add except that I'm damn excited to see new origins. One question pops up though: Each time they add another 20 origins, doesn't that make it harder to be an engineered human? They should just make engineered human one of the twenty options in the third set. If you manage to get a double origin at that point, your character is prematurely aborted and you have to roll another one.

Using the combined list of forty does decrease the odds of rolling an engineered human. However it also decreases the odds of rolling a speedster or a yeti by about the same amount. In fact if the DM uses the separate list mode (i.e. each character is rolled from one list) Engineered human becomes the most common because it's the only one available on both. However using the one and one approach (role once on each list for your origins) the engineered human becomes impossible.

So it depends on how you roll.

So are you saying that if I dice off for which table I use both times, I have about the same chance to get a yeti as I do an engineered human? (I'm not so great with probability). OR are you saying I have the same chance to get an engineered human as a "Yeti Speedster"? 'Cause that would make more sense to me. If I had a d40, I could see where you get that, but as it is, I'm not sure how you can use the whole list.

Sorry I meant to say Wheeled Yeti, or Alien speedster.

TO use the whole list put the origins on paper scraps and put the scraps in a hat. Then pick from the hat, putting whatever you got the first time back in before picking the second.

You have the same chance to roll an engineered human as you do any other specific combination of two origins. However the chance of any one of those combinations arising is reduced since the number of combinations has increased.

Actually, you have the same chance of rolling Engineered Human as you do of rolling any other secondary origin.  I'm pretty sure that's what you meant, but I'm just clarifying the odds.

Yeti Speedster = 1/1600.
Yeti Engineered Human = 1/1600.
Anything Speedster = 1/40.
Anything Engineered Human = 1/40.
