| #1trinabAug 02, 2008 9:36:17 | Just had a thought as I was dozing this morning... wouldn't it make sense if they had sorcerers as a primal class alongside with druids and barbarians? My brain was idly running on auto-pilot and I thought of what I knew about 4th edition sorcerers. Their magic would be wild, untamed, hard to control, and born from within rather then with study. The word 'primal' popped into my head and make me go 'ahhhhh...' It would make a lot of sense, allowing druids to be more focused on shapeshifting/healing roles, making them leader and/or defender types, barbarians could be the strikers, and sorcerers would be primal controllers. Any thoughts on this rather odd theory? Note: Primal doesn't always have to do with loving nature, just a natural source of power. The third edition text of the sorcerer sounded more natural and free-form then their spell-list suggested. They may not worship nature, but this natural power source may have manifested in them, whether they like it or not. |

My guess is either a striker (as we already have two martial strikers) or as a controller (since the number of controllers is rather low). They have the catalog out and the description for the arcane power book includes sorcerers and bards. Check it out at ENworld. |

| #5doctorhookAug 02, 2008 11:48:58 | Rich Baker confirmed that the sorcerer would be an Arcane Controller. He said something to the effect that, "We've fit the Sorcerer into the same power source and role as the Wizard, but still making the two classes distinct." Gonna be a li'l bit "wild magic"-y too, I hear. |

| #8wizardmonAug 02, 2008 16:30:12 | ....that it is the martial controller. :P I'm so glad I realized that you were joking, or else I would have had to go DeathNote on your butt. :D |
| #9pigknightAug 02, 2008 18:31:17 | But you don't know his name or face .Also Bards and Artificers are both arcane leaders, and Wizards and Sorcerers are both arcane controllers. |
| #10doctorhookAug 03, 2008 1:07:51 | Also Bards and Artificers are both arcane leaders, and Wizards and Sorcerers are both arcane controllers. ...And those Artificers had better-the-heck have as much support as the other Arcane classes! |
| #11ranadielAug 03, 2008 13:40:20 | I'm so glad I realized that you were joking, or else I would have had to go DeathNote on your butt. :D Oh come on, it makes just as much sense as any other martial controller idea! :P ......Although that says more about martial controllers then it does my joke. |
| #12pigknightAug 04, 2008 0:50:19 | A Death Note like class might be a good idea for a shadow/arcane controller. |
| #13Steely_DanAug 04, 2008 6:59:00 | A Death Note like class might be a good idea for a shadow/arcane controller. I'm thinking/hoping the Illusionist will be the Shadow Controller. But yes, as for the Sorcerer, as others have said, it is an Arcane Controller that is decidedly different than the Wizard, with supposed wild magic action. |
| #14cold_hellfireAug 06, 2008 13:53:05 | A Death Note like class might be a good idea for a shadow/arcane controller. Death note is striker, you can only target a single enemy with it and its also Save or Die effect... |
| #15pigknightAug 06, 2008 17:26:34 | Well you can write multiple names down and then make them do stuff before you kill 'em. |
