#2 AaronOfBarbaria Jun 19, 2014 16:15:31	You do not have to use the pregenerated characters, and the Basic D&D pdf to cover character creation is releasing on the same day as the starter set.   However, the pregenerated characters are tied into the adventure with their backgrounds and personal goals, so you should either use those characters or adapt their backgrounds to the characters you create... unless you don't care about the characters actually being related to the adventure at hand.
