I've been thinking about the way various class concepts can fit different party roles, and it occurred to me that the barbarian may well be a Martial Controller. I think that, considering the classic barbarian trademarks like spinning attacks, throwing people around, and things like fearsome warcries, the barbarian would be best suited for damaging and debuffing/immobilizing large numbers of foes, making him a controller.

Of course, we'll have to wait for the PHB2 to come out before anyone can know for sure, but I'm betting that WOTC will make the new barbarian a controller. Personally, I'm excited about this; a melee controller would be an interesting change of pace.

secondary barbarian role are also stated in the playtest article... they are defender (con secondary stat) or leader (cha secondary stat... this build is still not out in the playetest)

Beat a dead horse much?

We seriously don't need that many more melee right now. I want another ranged arcane class or maybe a ranged divine class like the Invoker.
