From what I think I understand, the random minis are going to be stopped, replaced with static figure packs and DDM sanctioned play is ceasing. Is this correct? I'm asking both because I use the minis for RPG use and I have two friends who are considering going back into DDM play, but I can't make much heads or tails out of the mini forums - looks like they've dried up. |

A group called "The Guild", made up several prolific DDM community members (Johnny Quest is one of them, IIRC) have acquired the license to produce official skirmish rules for the DDM figures that WotC produces. (WotC themselves are focusing on DDM as an exclusive RPG-oriented product now.) That's a very brief explanation, and I'm not sure I know enough to explain too much more. Suffice to say, as of the most current news, WotC is still planning to produce several sets of minis this year (albeit in the new semi-non-random format explained in the link above), and this fan-based group called The Guild will still be producing and organizing Official DDM skirmish play, AFAIK. Mostly, things look cautiously optimistic for the future of DDM, Stormonu. |
