I said I wouldn't need to buy the 4ed MotP. Then I bought it and immediately started using it in my campaign. :embarrass

So for now, I say "Nah" but I'm sure I'll be more pliable come Christmas time.

Wow. This is awesome news to hear. I love the Elemental Chaos. Here's hoping for more critters that are elementally themed, but not entirely made of rock/fire/air/water. Additional Genasi manifestations would also be very much appreciated.

Also, I'll bet money soundly that this is where we see stats for Lloth. She's one of the only remaining big figures in the Abyss, and I can't imagine a more appropriate supplement at all. Besides, Tiamat and Vecna so far were both found in supplements.

Kind of like the expectation that Bahamut could be stated out in the second Draconomicon?

Yes, having Llolth stats would be nice. I'd like to see some for Tharzidun as well.

Oof, I'm not sure if we'll see Bahamut at all, actually. While it would be awesome, they've stated explicitly that they aren't interested in stating out gods that people wouldn't usually consider threats. Also, you can make the Bane argument about Bahamut in reference to why he wouldn't be stated out (such as Bane wasn't in his own article): He's too powerful to be feasibly killed by even the highest reaches of power that player characters can hope to obtain. Characters have limits, even in their vast extremes, and some of the most powerful gods exist above them.

Bahamut, along with Pelor and Moradin, is one of the big three, the most powerful good entities in the universe. Vecna, a little bit of a lesser god, almost like Tiamat is, are going to be less powerful than the big three. But Tiamat and Vecna are also at the upper reaches of what it's even possible to kill with level 30 characters, even if with incredible items and maximized abilities.

With that said, I still agree that it is something I'd love to see.

While sort of true, Tiamat and Bahamut came around at the same time, so I'd figure they're around upper echelon, both of them.

Plus in 4e you can't kill ANY true god without very specific methods. You could choose to fight them, and might even defeat them (get them bloodied so they go poof).

Orcus is almost on the level of a god and at least before the stealth rule changes you could take him out pretty easily with a properly geared high level rogue (hooray for cloak of invisibility) supposedly.

I think that Bahamut might appear because while he's good he's also Lawful Good and could come into conflict with a party who's mostly unaligned. Good doesn't always get along with each other, especially when you toss Lawful in there since not every good person cares heavily or respects the laws (classic Robin Hood for example, doing good by breaking the law of the land).

The Bane article didn't stat him out but that may be because he'll be in a later book. The article seemed to focus more on how he's worshipped as well as the differences between the 4e PoL Bane and the FR Bane since they share name and portfolio but are truly 2 different dieties (or at least 2 aspects of one diety if you do the all gods through all cosmologies are the same core being but manifesting differently and possibly with a different name in each cosmology/pantheon).

True, though my plan for my first campaign as a DM is to have the players collect an object that, under the right circumstances, will allow them to summon Tiamat to the material plane and hold her there until she dies or until they do.

In essence, I want my first (very first) campaign I ever run in D&D to be one where deicide is the ultimate goal. :D

I assume you've seen Draconomicon, but if you haven't, they've got a few good hooks in there!

I assume you've seen Draconomicon, but if you haven't, they've got a few good hooks in there!

I have it, and I've made my own multi-pronged hook.

I intend the party to stumble across a small white gem shaped like a white dragon's head, stylized of course. Killing a few other young dragons in the area nets them other pieces of what just happens to be an artifact of Tiamat, split into five parts and recently recovered (I am planning on making 5 resin cast pieces that all fit together that I will give the party as props). One of the friendly NPCs tries their best to help the characters get all these things together, only to betray them in the end. Once(If?) they can kill him, they then have a hold of a power ful artifact of Tiamat, but in order to use it against her, they must travel to a sacred shrine of Bahamut and get the artifact sanctified in the name of Bahamut. This perverts the artifact, and allows it to bind Tiamat in her Physical form, thus allowing the adventurers to defeat her. Meanwhile, Tiamat has grown ever greedy, and is making plans to usurp the gods. I hope to make this a level 1 to 30 campaign.

A planned bunch of side quests in said campaign will point towards the campaign for the next group of characters. Tiamat has deals with Orcus and Vecna. Deals that start to spawn an alarming number of demons, undead and dracoliches. The idea being that the second campaign will deal with putting down Orcus, and possibly even making a tenuous alliance with Vecna.

I like very present gods. Can you tell?

I agree with Kalnaur regarding Bahamut's power level. Anyway, Tharizdun, as being the uber-powerful deity he's supposed to be isn't likely to get stats.

Personally, I'd like to see Obox-Ob and Pale Night, and a few primordials, and maybe a slaad lord like Ssendam. Even if we don't see these guys in the book, I'm definitely going to buy that book anyways.

I think Lolth will receive her stat block in the Underdark supplement that has been announced. Tharizdun... we may receive the stat block of one of his aspects but not the real guy.

She's the last big hitter in the Elemental Chaos other than the primordials, and resides in the Abyss.

Where has the Underdark supplement been confirmed?

It is listed on Amazon, and there was mention of it in a con earlier this year(I don't remember which one though).
