Which miniatures do you see in the picture that Peter Lee has just put up of the unpainted Legendary evil set? I see the Huge beholder and a couple dragons(I can't tell if one of them will be painted Green). :P I also see the Frost Titan and Remorhaz.

Greens are all spiky, like that guy from Bleach... you should be able to reconize them without color.

I see the Balor but I don't see a Hydra. Yikes I hope the Hydra's there somewhere.

Greyhaze has got them all up: http://www.ddmspoilers.com/mm_02.php

The Huges are:
 • Elder Green Dragon; <--------------
 • Elder Iron Dragon;
 • Goristro (a Huge minotaur-demon);
 • Balor (a Huge-sized demon in 4E);
 • Frost Titan;
 • Storm Titan;
 • Remorhaz;
 • Beholder Ultimate Tyrant.

This set looks awesome! ...I'm sorely tempted to become readdicted to plasticrack.

The rares and visibles in this set look excellent; if the paint jobs on that spoiler page are in any way related to what's actually in the boxes (and they might not be) then it's a big improvement from Dangerous Delves.

I particularly love the Sivak Draconian and the Balor. The commons look a bit crap though, particularly the Duergar and the Priestess of Bane.

I'm a little disappointed the Draconians are rares; to play a Dragonlance game we're going to need a heap of these guys! Kopaks in next set, maybe?

Oh, and yay for Irontooth getting a model and (by proxy) Murkelmor from Thunderspire. If we're doing named dudes from published adventures, could we have Maldrick please? Winged gnolls are not easy to sub.

Funny thing is that there are no Uncommons in this set. If the tags on ddmspoilers are to be believed, there's 8 visibles, 8 commons, and 24 rares...

The Huges are:

Elder Green Dragon; <--------------

Elder Iron Dragon;

I must say I'm surprised. I really thought that blue was a sure thing. Also, while I like iron it was near the bottom of my expectation (just above copper), I figured silver or adamantine was the most likely.

Fortunately Auraks and Sivaks are probably the draconians one would need the fewest of.

I'm far more disappointed that it appears as though both the air and earth archons are rare.

Actually, although rare, Sivaks are almost always encounter in groups of five or six. Auraks are almost never found with other Auraks though, which is a good thing.

Hopefully they will make a new Baaz, Kapak, and finally a Bozak (I have had a player of one before, we used a Baaz instead).

I'd give that set an 11 out of 10 if it had included a Huge Hydra but it gets 10 out of 10 for the Huge Green alone. The large Brown is the most desired Large I can think of. Maybe a new Purple as the old one is very small (even the base is small). Sweet set. I must say the Huge Iron looks AWESOME!!

If that Storm Giant's paint job is the same for the released version, I am going to have to get two just so I can rip the base off of one and display that thing with a light under it!!!! Hello Zeus! All the huge figs look great, I might have to get a case this time.

Edit: It is just me or does the Horrid Scarab Larva Swarm look like a pile of gold coins?

The only thing that I don't like about this set is that of the visibles I'd only want another of the titans, and maybe the goristro and balor.

I'd say that's the downside to the current packaging: about half of the visibles should be ones you'd want multiples of.

That might more-so be a down side of the combination of the new packaging and this being a huge set. Many huges are boss-like monsters, certainly the ones people want most are, unfortunately such monsters are rarely also the kinds of creatures one would ever need multiples of. Still, better to have visable balors than a $50+ chase rare.

Regardles of all that, I'm odering two cases as I always do. Whether I ever actually use all the double of each huge won't really matter to me (if nothing else, I'll just take the intimidation factor of my players knowing I can drop two balors on the table at a moments notice as a consolation prize :devil.

It does, and I believe it's supposed to. In fact, I wonder if the person who posted the spoilers didn't mishear the name of that mini, because it looks exactly like a Hoard Scarab (not Horrid Scarab) Swarm should look like -- a pile of gold coins.

As for the Green Dragon, it was definitely about time! I think the sculpt looks good, too, except for one thing that really bugs me: it looks to be the worst offender yet as far as minis that don't fit on their base go. It's a Huge, but the pose manages to take up the space of a Gargantuan. I really preferred the days when big minis were sculpted up rather than out.

Also, I totally didn't expect to see a Huge Iron Dragon, but that doesn't mean I don't want it. OTOH, it can also double for a Huge Silver Dragon, just like Huge Aspect of Bahamut can.

Finally, my biggest complaint about this set is that it's nearly convincing me to spend money on minis again -- something I was hoping not to do anymore. (Counters are soo much cheaper!)

That was my asumption. I'm rather looking forward to this dual function mini.
Player: "so is that pile of gold in the corner a monster?"
DM: "Well, there's an easy way to find out."
We're just as over due for a huge blue

The over base is prety dreadful though, it's worse than tiamat. The only mini I can think of that's worse is the TIE crawler form SWMs.

Also, I totally didn't expect to see a Huge Iron Dragon, but that doesn't mean I don't want it.

Agreed on both counts.

Finally, my biggest complaint about this set is that it's nearly convincing me to spend money on minis again -- something I was hoping not to do anymore. (Counters are soo much cheaper!)

LOL, this is a sentiment I can sympathize with, though for me it was the last set. Actually, truth be told, I was a pretty easy sale, as I mostly only quit collecting in 2008 because of the promise of the game table (though the quality decline was certainly a sub-factor). Not because of cost, subscriptions fees would ultimately run about the same, but because of the convince of not having to rummage though my storage boxes and especially for the convince of no post session clean up. With that particular application sitting on indefinite hold the appeal of minis has returned (I even went back a picked up two cases of Against the Giants and intend to eventually pick up a case each of Demon Web and Dungeons of Dread).

For a Huge Blue Dragon, yes we are overdue. That said though, we're much more overdue for any Green Dragons, especially 4E-style ones. (I suspect the Green Dragon redesign for 4E was a big part of why Greens never got much mini-love in 3E.)

The over base is prety dreadful though, it's worse than tiamat. The only mini I can think of that's worse is the TIE crawler form SWMs.

Yikes, that thing is terrible! What's the base on it supposed to be? I'm going to guess "Large", in which case it's obviously a Huge mini on the wrong base. (The base is too big to be Medium, and if it's Huge then I have no idea how they got it in the box to begin with.) I never noticed it because I don't follow the Star Wars products.

Minis.... So many minis....

I've got a ton of 'em too, (1000? 1500 maybe? I'm not sure anymore) but I always find that no matter how many you've got, you still find yourself with way too many of what you don't need, and not nearly enough of what you do need. After dropping over $100 on singles in order to run H1 and H2, I started thinking that this might not be worth it.

...And then they go and make some real nice ones!

These stupid things are why I have no equity. :P

To the best of my recollection the count was...
GREEN DRAGONS
- Medium (Aberations)
- Large (War of the Dragon Queen)
- Large (2008 Starter Set)

BLUE DRAGONS
- Small (Dragoneye)
- Large (Deathknell)
- Large (Demonweb)
- Gargantuan (Icons)
So Blue only lead by it's icon. On the one side the new green puts them even, while on the other side a huge blue would have made for a complete MM set.

Yikes, that thing is terrible! What's the base on it supposed to be? I'm going to guess "Large", in which case it's obviously a Huge mini on the wrong base. It's a huge, from the Force Unleashed set. They actually crammed those things in the same size boxes that WotDQ and GoL came in. It's been too long since I opened mine (all SEVEN of them!!!) so I don't quite recall how they angled them in order to pull that off.

I was up to about 1500 my self, then I revised my collection policy and sold off a few hundred (mostly commons and uncommon), but I think I'm back up to around 1400 now, and that's only DDMs. I have over 2500 more SWMs.

Which brings me back to my idea that they make Monster Tiles like they make Dungeon Tiles and have them in sets (have Dragons, Kobolds and Dragon-related all in one set for example) They could give us an army of Goblins/Kobolds/Orcs and any other monsters known to be hanging out with said army for only $10. Have the areal view of the monster on one side and the "fallen down dead" view on the other. (because I still count a dead body as difficult terrain)

Makes sense to me.....

That's madness.

I really wish they put minis on the proper bases. (Some of the early "Medium"-sized dragons would clearly be much more at home on a Large base; Dragoneye's Brass Dragon, I'm looking at you!)

EDIT: I'm not imagining it when I think that there's wayy too many Black Dragons, am I?

That's a good idea, and WotC should do it! A product like this already exists though, by Fiery Dragon Games, if you wanted to pick it up now. (The reverse side of each counter has a thick red border, to indicate that the monster is Bloodied.) The counters are very high quality, but personally I don't really like the artwork they use, which is the only downside.

I agree; the official artwork would be better in most cases. I've taken to making my own counters, although I don't know about putting them on cardboard; I print them on heavy paper, then glue them to 1-inch washers, because it's simple and cheap lol.

EDIT: I'm not imagining it when I think that there's wayy too many Black Dragons, am I?

2 large, 1 medium, 1 huge /w mounted sorcerer, 1 small, and the gargantuan icon (total 6 blacks) by my last count.

As for SWMs, may I ask: how many of those 2500 are just reposes of the same characters? ;)

Just hitting major characters, I own...
 • 9 Anakin Skywalker (6 different)(all padawan or knight, no child)
 • 6 Boba Fett (5 different)(two of those are as child though, same pose)
 • 3 C-3PO (2 different)
 • 7 Chewbacca (5 different)(one has C-3PO on his back)
 • 7 Count Dooku/Darth Tyranus (5 different)
 • 4 Darth Maul (3 different)(one is riding a speeder)
 • 14 Darth Vader (10 Different)
 • 8 General Grievous (6 different)(one of those is ridding his wheel bike,overbased)
 • 9 Palpatine in various guises (7 different)
 • 13 Han Solo (8 difrent)(two are on a tauntaun same, another is in carbonite)
 • 3 Jango Fett (2 different)(one is made of win)
 • 5 Lando Calrissian (3 different)
 • 20 Luke Skywalker (13 different)(4 are on tauntaun same, one has Yoda on his back, another is a ghost)
 • 6 Mace Windu (3 different)
 • 11 Obi-Wan Kenobi at various ages (7 different)(one is riding a huge dinosaur)
 • 4 Padme Amidala (3 different)
 • 15 Princess Leia (9 different)(four are disguised 2 different, one is a jedi)
 • 3 Qui-Gon Jin (2 different)
 • 5 R2-D2 (3 different)(one is flying)
 • 5 Yoda (4 different)(one is riding this thing)

Do Stormtroopers count? I own around 104 stormtroopers in 16 different poses (not counting things like snowtroopers or scout troopers). I probably have even more clone troopers, but I don't feel like counting those.
