There should be a top-level forum for D&D Miniatures

It would be nice if WotC would make a forum for D&D Miniatures (the items themselves, not the minis game) at the top level so we can discuss what we like or don't like about Minis from WotC and other manufacturers.

I don't think WotC has made enough minis to fit into the 4e system, especially now that there are so many more races and classes. Ideally, there would be a male and female cast of every race in every class. I doubt that will happen, but since the 4e mechanic works best with minis on a playing grid, it would be nice for WotC to demonstrate that they're committed to keeping minis at the core of their game. One sign of this commitment are the upcoming hero minis, yay! but 18 minis won't cover half of the ones we need for all the races and classes. where are the dragonborn, the tieflings, the devas and genasi?

by making a top-level forum, WotC can encourage more feedback and suggestions of what people want.

I have a killer male Gnome Bard and female Gnome Barbarian I've just painted. they're from Reaper. perhaps WotC and Reaper and Citadel etc could talk to each other about the miniatures they're making.

I don't think two of each race for each class is really necessary. Weapons and armor make a bigger difference in look than class. A male dwarf warlord with an axe would also make a perfectly good male dwarf fighter or paladin with an axe. So, call it four or five from each sex of each race to cover 95% of the likely combinations.

But yeah, a dedicated forum would be nice. Especially now that the mini game is effectively dead as a growing concern. I think the proper place for such a request would be the Community Business board.

Except the minis game is actually far from dead, and is probably stronger now than it was a year ago.

And people discuss the minis apart from the DDM game in that forum all the time. So there is already a forum for this discussion.

As for the selection of figures, other designs will be forthcoming. A lot of the reason for the pieces included in this first run is because of the quick change in direction WotC had to do. Some of the pieces in the Heroes sets are actually repeats from the old sets because there wasn't enough time to develop new sculpts across the board. I'm pretty confident you'll see the missing races next year.
