Two Essentials questions

Sep 21, 2010 18:25:43 Hi all. Like many of you I am spending some time today poring over the new Rules Compendium and Heroes of the Fallen Lands. So far I have to say these books are a hit, and I hope others are agreeing.

Two questions about the future Essentials products I am hoping to get answered:

1) I noticed the page count for Fallen Lands and the upcoming Forgotten Kingdoms are identical (according to amazon). I realise this may be incorrect, but it got me to wondering: A good portion of Fallen Lands details Gear, Feats, Skills, How to make a character, etc. Will any/all of this be REPRINTED in Forgotten Kingdoms? I am getting the impression that these two books are nearly mirror images of each-other except for different races and classes, with the rest of the material being the same. Is this incorrect?

2) amazon (again) states the page count for the Essential's style Dungeon Master's Book that is included inside the Dungeon Master's Kit as 96 pages. I have heard reports that this book is actually closer to 271 pages. Which is correct?

There's an unboxing video for the DM Kit at newbiedm.com/2010/08/31/dungeon-masters-... where you can see the size of the manual. The guy in the video mentions the 271 page count.

Sep 22, 2010 3:27:39 I think this is (yet another) case of whoever enters product data into Amazon's DB taking insufficient care with their accuracy. There are a couple of smaller adventure module 'books' in the DM's kit, as well as the main 270-odd-page one. Presumably one (or both) of them is 96 pages.

I don't play or DM as often as I used to, but it will be nice to have it on hand if the DMing bug hits again.

Sep 23, 2010 2:21:09 For what its worth I've been wondering the same thing about that new Heroes book. I can't imagine that outside of the builds that it would be the same info as HotFL. I really wonder what the rest of the book is.
