#1 Lord_Ventnor Sep 21, 2009 1:07:41	The first preview for Primal Power mentioned in passing two new Barbarian builds, and gave a line about what we can expect from them. The first is the Thunderborn Barbarian, which sounds like a supernatural warrior. They mentioned Thunder Spirits surrounding them, which certainly sounds far more "magical" than any of the other barbarian builds revealed so far. Then there's the Whirling Barbarian, which dual-wields weapons. I'm wondering how it will differ from the Two-Blade Ranger, but I have no doubt that it will. You can see the preview here.

I'm wondering how it will differ from the Two-Blade Ranger, but I have no doubt that it will. well on game day they had the whirling one...I think (working backwards) they have an at will that is 1 attack if it hits with the main weapon then you auto hit a second adj target with your off hand weapon but just 1[w] no + str... They also had a daily that the 'rage' special power is if you miss with an atwill you do 1[w] with your off hand weapon...
#3 Dragon9 Sep 21, 2009 15:19:25	Hmmm... I wonder if the Thunderborn barbarian will have more elemental typed damage powers.  Maybe combined with the abiolity to punch through resistance a la the Storm Sorcerer.

#9 GhostStepper Sep 26, 2009 9:58:32	Ill bet money that we wont see the same amount of multi attacking, single-target melee cheese that the ranger is saturated with. The at-will, for example, isnt single target like Twin Strike.
#10 KoboldAvenger Sep 26, 2009 12:39:02	A dex-secondary barbarian sounds like a good idea.  At least it gives halflings and other small races a chance to be a barbarian.  And it sort of makes up for the low AC bit, even though Ragebloods make up for it with all those temp HPs.  Kind of leaves the Thaneborns behind, as there still is the smallest number of things that work off of cha.

#13 GhostStepper Sep 26, 2009 19:34:45	Well, i said it looked like Dex. It had maxed out Dex but dumped Con and Cha. Who knows though, it could be based on one of those.

I'm pretty sure I saw a Feat that lets you add your CON instead of your Dex to AC when you're wearing Light Armor. So, this will be a general issue with every barbarian, I guess...
#15 Marandahir Oct 06, 2009 11:35:38	I'm wondering if Thunderborn will be Con or Cha.  I could see it based off both.  I could also see them as the boisterous bruser archetype; the loud, bellowing rager, as apposed to the intimidating one or the brutal one or the fast one. For that reason, I'm not sure if utilising Thunder Spirits to make large sound bursts will require Con to control them; require Con to make large bellows; require Cha to be loud and influence others with loudness; or some other requirement.  It's Thunder, not Lightning, so it's not so much of a Storm Barbarian as a Loud Barbarian. Finally, the prospect of a Dex Barbarian is awesome, because it finally means Half-Orcs are great as Barbarians again.  As good as Goliaths, Minotaurs, Warforged, and Dragonborn at least, that is. I'm still hoping for more Thaneborn love amongst the Primal Power book, with more Cha-based powers.  Too few of the powers reffered to Cha in PH2, despite the awesomeness of the Thaneborn concept.

So, this will be a general issue with every barbarian, I guess... LOL. So Con to AC feat + Barbarian Agility + Warding Steel. Barbarians now have the highest AC around! If this feat exists, i hope it has a particular barbarian build as a prereq. Otherwise, battleragers are going to pick it up, dump Dex, have a good AC and their bonus damage.
