| #1fenrir7139May 19, 2009 21:47:50 | Personally, I want a Lycanthrope bloodline; I know they have shifters, but, hell, the made an angel one, despite all ready having Devas. What about you guys? What would you like to see? |
| #2vebrandssonMay 19, 2009 21:54:13 | Though I would much rather see a playable illithid, an illithid bloodline would be nice. And yes I realize how stupid it seems and how little sense it makes but recall that warforged and devas can become dhampyrs and warforged can take the angelic/deva bloodline and that makes even less sense and is stupider in my opinion. The illithids have always had a crowd of fans and I think it will be mostly well received. |
| #3fenrir7139May 19, 2009 21:57:54 | I don't see why Illithids couldn't be PCs; they're humanoid, medium size, and it's not like they have crazy-powerful abilities. |
| #4fey_felineMay 19, 2009 21:59:25 | Half-dragon bloodline. Daelkyr-Halfblood. |
| #5fenrir7139May 19, 2009 22:03:19 | Half-Dragon would be nice; I don't know anything about Daelkyrs, though... |
| #6McnancyMay 19, 2009 23:11:53 | Personally, I want a Lycanthrope bloodline; I know they have shifters, but, hell, the made an angel one, despite all ready having Devas. What about you guys? What would you like to see? Wait, what angel one? There was an angelic bloodline feat? |
| #7fenrir7139May 19, 2009 23:16:12 | Wait, what angel one? It might have been called celestial, or something... It was in last month's Dragon, I believe. |
| #8sirvimesMay 19, 2009 23:18:41 | It might have been called celestial, or something... It was in last month's Dragon, I believe. The bloodline feats last issue were in the Ecology of the Deva article. |
| #9McnancyMay 19, 2009 23:21:23 | The bloodline feats last issue were in the Ecology of the Deva article. Quit lookin, I found it! Thanks. |
| #10solvacioMay 20, 2009 18:04:27 | what about a fiendish bloodline, something a bit more then just a teifling, but more like half. I also like the lycanthrope idea. Giant Bloodline, hell you can probably just pick a monster out of the book that you like, and make a bloodline out of it, might be kinda tricky but could be cool.![]() |
| #11xenophileMay 20, 2009 20:17:14 | Even dragons might be considered to humans in terms of "look what I can breed with." So how about a "human bloodline" feat that excludes humans, half-elves, tieflings, half-orcs and shifters? I have no idea what benefits you'd get, though. Alternatively, a fey bloodline feat would be stylish, useful, AND mythologically precedented. |
| #12thestupacabraMay 20, 2009 20:46:02 | I want a Pun-Pun bloodline. No seriously. It would be awesome... Really though, I don't know if I'd go so narrowly focused as Illithid, but I think an Abberatio bloodline would be awesome. Another cool one could be an actual Abyssal bloodline, afterall, Tieflings have an Infernal bloodline, why shouldn't the demons be represented. Aside from that, umm... maybe a Deity bloodline. Would totally explain why virtually every character in 4e ends up with the Demigod ED... |
| #13McnancyMay 20, 2009 20:58:40 | Tieflings have an Infernal bloodline They do? WHY DON'T I KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT BLOODLINES!?!?!? How many of these things are there? |
| #14thestupacabraMay 20, 2009 21:12:14 | They do? Let me correct that, because I kinda misinformed you there. Tiefling fluff says that they are descended from devils and such. Therefore, they would have a devilish bloodline. I don't mean they have literal bloodline feats. Sorry about that. |
| #15undraveMay 20, 2009 22:03:19 | Let me correct that, because I kinda misinformed you there. No they don't. Tieflings are descended from HUMANS who made deals with DEVILS. There was no interbreeding. Mortal + Devil = Cambion, not Tiefling. |
| #16McnancyMay 20, 2009 22:20:31 | Let me correct that, because I kinda misinformed you there. I was starting to freak out there, it was like a whole aspect of the game just sliped by me. Good to know I'm not that blind afterall |
| #17fenrir7139May 21, 2009 0:28:50 | A giant bloodline would be cool; and the fey one would rock! I think there ought to be a Devil bloodline and a demon bloodline, though I'm not sure how you would differentiate the two... |
| #18Janx_14May 21, 2009 0:38:11 | Devil would likely work like the Deva bloodline utility but in reverse or some sum such. Since Deva and the Tiefling have the opposites for one of their racial abilities. No idea what demon would be. |
| #19fenrir7139May 21, 2009 0:43:34 | I just looked at Daelkyr-Half Bloods on the Eberron Wiki, and, personally, I think they would work well as a Multiclass-Only class; I suppose one could argue that that would be too similar to the Spellscars of FR, but, to each his own I suppose. Also, I agree with you, Janx; Devil would probably just be the opposite of the Deva bloodline. The problem with Devils and Demons is that they're so damn varied; there's too many types to choose from. |
| #20doctorhookMay 21, 2009 18:51:10 | Also, I agree with you, Janx; Devil would probably just be the opposite of the Deva bloodline. The problem with Devils and Demons is that they're so damn varied; there's too many types to choose from. That's precisely why it would be pretty silly to make a different bloodline feat for each individual Demon or Devil type; after all, who the heck is going to choose "Dretch Heritage" when they can choose "Balor Heritage"? Not very many people, I promise you. Additionally, in previous editions, most Demons and Devils could be promoted or demoted in form, so it wouldn't make sense to have a different set of feats for each type either. Have a Demon Heritage set of feats and a Devil Heritage set of feat, and then have some of the individual feats in each category named after certain traits of certain types. Folks could then choose any or all of the ones they like from within their heritage. It's the smart way to do it. |

| #22haferkaMay 22, 2009 10:18:00 | How about a generic bloodline feat.. .. Pick a race.. gain the skill bonuses for that race, count as that race. That way I can create some of the strange racial mixes.. Elf/Dwarf ![]() |
| #23fenrir7139May 22, 2009 10:23:27 | LOL, nice. That would be awesome. That could lead to some potentially... creepy combos though (Goliath/Gnome, anyone?). |
| #24nandvs_the_fanpireMay 22, 2009 10:38:22 | Githzeraiyanki, Halfelf/halfhuman... I like that idea, but he Heritage Packs ar better. |
| #25rampantMay 22, 2009 10:41:16 | I'd like a dragon bloodline so i could stop working on it. Also considering how much dealing with devils was going on in Bael Turath I severely doubt there's not at least a little devil blood in there. An infernal bloodline feat chain would steal from and compliment the Tiefling. A celestial bloodline would be difficult, considering deva don't breed and normal angels can't. I think that would mean you have to fold that into the god touched bloodline. And anyone who lets a character play a warforged or deva damphyre without a really good story needs a good thwacking. Things that can make good bloodlines in 4e: Dragons Giants Therianthropes Oni Things that would make great bloodlines save for a lack of unifying features. Devils Demons Fey Things that would make great bloodlines except that they don't breed. Angels |
| #26fenrir7139May 22, 2009 10:56:28 | I'd like a dragon bloodline so i could stop working on it. Dude, there is a Deva Bloodline... Page 49, Dragon Magazine, Issue #374. "Even though they have sexual characteristics, devas cannot propagate their own species. This being the case, a few among the wise have wondered why devas incarnate in bodies that are clearly and functionally masculine or feminine. Strangely, devas can and do mingle with some other humanoid species, passing a measure of angelic power into nondeva bloodlines. Those who have a deeper understanding know the primal spirits intended this manifestation of the astral within the natural humanoids of the world all along—perhaps even as a balance to the elemental genasi, who have a history at least as long as that of the devas." Also, Tieflings are stated in the PHB to be the result of a pact, not direct Human/Devil action; Devil + Human =/=; Devil + Human = Cambion, as Undrave said before: Tieflings are descended from HUMANS who made deals with DEVILS. There was no interbreeding. Mortal + Devil = Cambion, not Tiefling. |
| #27undraveMay 22, 2009 13:31:28 | LOL, nice. That would be awesome. That could lead to some potentially... creepy combos though (Goliath/Gnome, anyone?). Its like Hot Skitty on Wailord action!!! :D |
| #28rampantMay 22, 2009 13:48:52 | page 49 huh? which article is that in then? As for the cambions those are half-devil half-mortal (human?), if humans and devils were asssociating that closely in beal turath, i find it easy to believe there were more than a few cambions floating around at the time. I'm just saying we shouldn't rule out little touches of infernal blood. |
| #29doctorhookMay 22, 2009 18:31:36 | That sounds pretty good. Actually, it sounds perfect! I would love something like that! :D However, I have to admit that the idea isn't originally mine. In fact, what I was describing is pretty much exactly how Heritage feats were in 3.5E, especially as they were presented in Fiendish Codex I and II. Obviously those feats wouldn't fit into 4E as is, but I think they're ripe for translation. page 49 huh? which article is that in then? The article is called "Ecology of the Deva", IIRC. As for "page 49", be aware that the pages in D&DI articles are numbered based on the page count of the compiled magazine (even though the pagination might change in the final compilation). Because of this, it wouldn't be unexpected to see an eight-page Dragon article PDF file numbered, say, from 53 to 60. What I'm trying to say is that you shouldn't read much into the page numbers. As for the cambions those are half-devil half-mortal (human?), if humans and devils were asssociating that closely in beal turath, i find it easy to believe there were more than a few cambions floating around at the time. I'm just saying we shouldn't rule out little touches of infernal blood. I can buy that. That said, Tieflings are supposed to be the answer for folks who want to play "Devil-touched" characters, but OTOH I also see the difference between a Tiefling and a Human with subtle diabolic traits. I can see "Tiefling Heritage" overlapping with "Devil Heritage" though, so I don't expect to ever see both. |
| #30rampantMay 22, 2009 21:07:44 | Ok found the deva bloodline. Really annoying how they just tossed it in there with the regular deva feats. I think some development is in order on that as well. |
| #31NyarlathotepMay 25, 2009 10:46:08 | A Flumph bloodline. But the character has to promise to never, EVER tell the story of how a flumph ended up in his family tree.:P But really, I think a Fey Bloodline of some sort would be something I might like to play. As might an Elemental bloodline (Grampa was a Genasi or some such). |
| #32fenrir7139May 27, 2009 16:45:38 | A Flumph bloodline. But the character has to promise to never, EVER tell the story of how a flumph ended up in his family tree.:P Lulz; Flumph-Dragonborn named Flargh... I'd play it! |
| #33fenrir7139May 31, 2009 21:37:40 | I was thinking about bloodlines today at work, and I thought of something that would kick ass; "Mutation" feats. Basically, due to the Far Realm's influence in your blood, you grow weird body parts and stuff, like spikes, bony plates, claws, a tongue that can extend from your mouth and turn razor-sharp, tentacles (everybody needs tentacles ;)), or even hand-mouths; fang-filled mouths on the palms of your hands! |
| #34doctorhookJun 01, 2009 6:36:43 | I was thinking about bloodlines today at work, and I thought of something that would kick ass; "Mutation" feats. Nethack? :P |
| #35lycaon84Jun 03, 2009 2:01:41 | +1 for Werewolf bloodline! :D |
| #36zeratulcraftJun 03, 2009 3:48:45 | I'd like a 3.5 Bloodline feat, with different traits per class. Like... Fighter : Lose all powers but your at-wills. Rogue : Become more interesting. Cleric : Choose one of two paths, healer, or God. Wizard : You are now God. Druid : Choose one of two paths, God, or Godderer. Paladin : You have a mount, it is Celestial. Etc. |
| #37BelorinJun 03, 2009 3:50:37 | What other bloodline feats are in the works? Aberrant Abyssal Angelic - Deva Draconic Elemental - Genasi? Fey Infernal - Tiefling? Lycanthrope - Shifter? Primordial Shadow Vampire - Dhampyr Wight Bel |
| #38wvrenwulfJun 03, 2009 6:37:16 | They have Vampire and Deva. I'd like to see Outsider and Fey. I think if you get some like Abberation ancesters, it begins to get silly. Just my thought. |
| #39Arawn76Jun 03, 2009 8:55:01 | Birthright :P |
| #40famousfoxkingJun 03, 2009 10:54:40 | Personally, I want a Lycanthrope bloodline; I know they have shifters, but, hell, the made an angel one, despite all ready having Devas. What about you guys? What would you like to see? Fey, beast (lycanthrope), primordial, infernal, and abberant would be a good start. |
| #41stormonuJun 03, 2009 22:55:16 | Brujah. |
| #42undraveJun 03, 2009 23:26:01 | We need a Dwarven bloodline feat. The Half-Elves and Half-Feys and Half-Devil have taken too much spotlight already! I want a stout human with just a dab of Dwarven toughness in 'im so he can resist pushes! Or an Elf with a little more meat on his bone! Dwarven bloodline feat FTW! |
| #43fenrir7139Jun 03, 2009 23:43:17 | We need a Dwarven bloodline feat. The Half-Elves and Half-Feys and Half-Devil have taken too much spotlight already! I think somebody posted something like that earlier; basically, a "bloodline" feat that lets you gain some of the racial abilities of another race; that would be kind of cool if it followed the example set by hybrid classes; hybrid races! |
| #44myt3m0w53Jun 04, 2009 1:39:26 | Dwarven Bloodline Feats!! Azer (elemental fire) Ghaleb Dhur (elemental earth) Druergar (shadow??) and 1 of those is a playable race already!! meh, so there are standard dwarves... but only 2 in FR, what happened to Gully Dwarves? I say Dwarves and Elves... I mean who would want a Half-Drow/Half Aquatic elf anyway?? (I might) But new bllodline feats for Dwarves would totally rock!! Like an Azer Bloodline feat thats like the Firesoul one for Genesai!! Hmm... I might do that for my own campaigns!! since everyone loves Those diminutive Santa's!! |
