From the article, today's Ampersand editorial by Bill Slavicsek, after some vague mummery about what we will see in 2011:

These products will include our traditional formats, but you’ll also see new formats as well.

monster stat-block formats.

It's laid out differently.

I read it as formats for distribution, as in books, DDI, etc.  Not formats as in stat block formats.  Specifically, I'm quoting from the last paragraph, which I will not reproduce here.

Maybe there will be more boxed sets of adventures or settings like the gamma world game and adventures, and / or softcover books?

In January, 2011, our new front list products begin rolling out, providing expanded game options and materials for all players. We’re going to continue to use the lessons we learned from Essentials while applying the innovation and design we’re known for. You’ll see options for players that include new power sources, new class and race options, and even more universal options that work with the material you’re already playing with. For Dungeon Masters, options will include new campaign elements, new monsters, new tools to help plan and run the game, and more. These products will include our traditional formats, but you’ll also see new formats as well. There’s exciting things coming for D&D, and we’ll get more and more into this topic as the year progresses.

Yeah, I also don't think he was talking about the monster stat blocks... but rather about tools and other options released for DM's...

since above he states that the New Monster stat Block fromat would be the only one used in the future.... he would be contradicting that with the "These products will include our traditional formats, but..." part...

Not to mention that he uses the plural... formats... if he was talking about the new Stat Block he'd say 'format'...

WOW!
Doesn't that make the last two years a Playtest for the next ten?
It is okay if we will have backwards compatability.

Right?
