| #1Slit518Dec 23, 2014 14:34:01 | What future campaigns would you like to see? What types of things would you want to do? Main end goals? Describe in detail as much or as little as you want. Go! |
| #2dafrcaDec 23, 2014 15:07:33 | I would like to see a setting where we can find our way, as players, to the various "worlds" of D&D. Sort of a doorway to other worlds. This would allow DMs to port characters as desired.

| #5BRJNDec 25, 2014 13:15:51 | For beginning characters:
Take the Keep on the Borderlands caves and spread them out into a range of hills. (Allowing the PCs to deal with them one-by-one.) BBEG is hanging out in a new high-end cave and making plans to exploit a weakness he has discovered in the Keep's defences. The foes in the Caves have a role in his attack plan, no random cannon fodder.
I have the Basic D&D version of KotB, so BBEG would be a 6th-level character, decked out to the max: the toughest-possible foe creatable in game. Fighter or Cleric or Magic-User would be good since the other classes are also races. (Although a re-skinned Elf might be the best of all possible worlds.)
This can lead into a Greyhawk Gazetteer available for sale about the time the adventure arc is finished. |
| #6BRJNDec 25, 2014 13:22:54 | For high-end characters:
Travel to the Astral Sea and find the remains of a dead / forgotten god. Using a ritual of High Magic, resurrect him. (Assumes a blend of 4e Astral Sea book with some FR background materials.) The god could be somebody like Eliastree who has a fan base but not much official support. Personally, I want to be a psionic character who retrieves Auppenser from the Plane of Dreams and awakens him from his long slumber.

| #8LuisCarlos17fDec 25, 2014 22:19:17 | Dark Sun and Ravenloft are too cool to not come back.
Spelljammer never was published in Spanish languange.
I miss the background of Greyhawk, like the Scarlet brotherhood. |
| #9BryanLeeDavidsonDec 25, 2014 22:46:38 | I think Urban Arcana would be really cool. |
| #10Slit518Dec 26, 2014 12:39:46 | What places do they focus on now for modules? Forgotten Realms and Ebberon? Is that it? |

| #13Slit518Dec 29, 2014 14:39:44 | Any of you ever submit a campaign to Wizards of the Coast? If so, how did it go? How do you go about sending one in? |
| #14dafrcaDec 29, 2014 14:59:15 | I entered the campain contest they ran. To be honest I didn't liek it because, for obvious reasons, you were not able to receive any feedback. I would have liked to know what they liked and didn't like about my entry. But I had fun doing th eprep work for the entry though. |
| #15wwannoDec 31, 2014 8:09:12 | Planescape (only if WoTC is able to catch the old flavour) and Ravenloft. The Realms too, but that is not a priority, they destroyed them with 4th ed., and as a result I (and I guess a lot of people) keep using old 3rd ed. books (that could change by the way) |
| #16ApollwnDec 31, 2014 12:56:07 | I would definately like to see Raveloft coming |
| #17Slit518Dec 31, 2014 15:13:25 | I would like to see a sprawl of the campagin worlds as well. Or perhaps old, really classic moduels converted for this rule-set. That would be sweet. |
| #18YogShubbJan 02, 2015 8:59:02 | A lot was before are game groups time but Planescape was one I always wanted to run. I found an old 2nd edition book and it just looked really interesting. But I'd love to see a return to Ebberon. i am however a little disappointed that a campaign book was not released. One thing I do not want to see is a return to the way 4th edition handled Campaign books. the two book only style I was not a fan of. I loved the supplements of 3.5 and really missed them. I loved buying a book completely dedicated to the city of towers and Dragonmarks. |
| #19SharazorJan 04, 2015 17:38:54 | The first attempt I ever made at running a D&D game (AD&D 2nd E.) was in The Forgotten Realms. I know that one is comming. I was thinking that I would like to see the return of boxed sets. And, as for settings: Darksun and Ravenloft. Above those, I would like to see Greyhawk because it is Gary Gygax's world, and for some reasion the idea fascinates me. Add to all this a full-on Sword & Sorcery source book (with monsters, spells, and spell point system) and perhaps the adaptation of REH's CONAN (Hyboria) and the movie "The Beastmaster". |
| #20EthanSentalJan 04, 2015 21:34:33 | I'm going with Ravenloft, dragonlance, and forgotten realms. Has WoTC set up some sort of vote mechanism which would be easier to gauge interest than reading 120 thread posts at some point |

| #25RathshakaJan 30, 2015 10:04:42 | Well i've had this idea for awhile and i was hoping to get some feed back about it. I think it would be nice to have a small computer setting to help out in the game, like a program to help keep htings on track. maps, battles, even conversations. Like a new advanced version. i always loved playing it when i was growing up but now that i'm working it's hard to get back into it with work and all. with a computer program for tablets or something, it could help keep things in order and speed things up a bit. i wrote about it a while ago in one of my blogs and was hoping to get some feed back on the idea. |

| #27EatDrinkPlayFeb 07, 2015 20:19:13 | Planescape. PLEEEEase let there be more Planescape.
More Eberron would be great as well.

| #30XallinFeb 20, 2015 10:48:35 | Planescape is my first pick, followed by Ravenloft and Darksun. It would be cool to see Eberon, and Dragonlance has had a nice long rest. Can we leave Ferun alone for a while. I'm personally really damn sick of that world. But yes PLANESCAPE a million times bring back PLANESCAPE! |
| #31Daydreamer80Mar 05, 2015 2:10:50 | 1) Planescape. 2) Eberron. 3) FR-but 90% sure this ones a definate, its like the unofficial official default setting. 4) Darksun.
|
| #32PaladinNicolasMar 15, 2015 14:15:04 | Eberron, my favorite campaign setting, is the one I vote for. |
| #33Solaxi93May 02, 2015 18:06:06 | Middle Earth would be a good setting or the Silmarillion in the early days of Morgoth. |
| #34BRJNMay 11, 2015 17:34:28 |
|
| #35BryanLeeDavidsonMay 12, 2015 0:36:09 | Mystara would be a classy bit of fun. Urban Arcana could be a blast. SpellJammer and Plane Scape would be completely cool
Maybe and somthing that starts the charaters out as children or teenager. It could be plugged in to any campaign. They could start at level 0 with just there backgrounds and 6 base hit points. New challenges for a group that has to deal with adult athority, condensation, care, apathy, and protection....I have to write this now...
A humanoid campaign! Raid and explore the spraling cities, sewers, and Castles! Protect you dungeon! Eat the pesants! Usurp your darklord! |
| #36smacintushJun 01, 2015 6:15:02 | As an official, harcover release? The top two or three most popular (FR, Eberron, DS?)...then an all new one or two.
In my opinion, most of those old, defunct settings can stay that way. How can the game move foreward if everyone keeps looking back? The days of having umpteen dozen official settings are over...for now and the foreseeable future.
If they really want to pique my interest, they should release an all new campaign setting will all new races as well, rather than continuing the tradition of shoehorning slightly modified, Tolkien-esque races into every single campaign world ever.
|
| #37gmanjkdJun 28, 2015 19:29:26 | Hmmmm. Before I get hate mail.......this is just speculation.
Looking at the limited releases so far I am thinking less and less that we will see more than FR for D&D 5e. Most rpgs (That I can think of) usually only support one world.....right? Shadowrun, Warhammer Fantasy, Warhammer 40k, Star Wars, Rolemaster (Has 2) WoD has lots of books but all share the same world. I may be completely wrong as my gaming diversity is quite limited with current games and I know ZERO about pathfinder.
It seams more realistic to me that WotC is going to do exactly What I REMEMBER" them saying early on, that FR was going to be the default setting for 5e. (my memory may be inacurate if so my appologies) Months later we see stuff in the DMG referencing some of the other worlds. (was that what WotC views as support for older settings) Then Tyrrany of Dragons comes out and it could easily be ported to Dragon Lance. PotA is brought in from GH with great info in the back about porting it into other worlds. Further "Support"????? I expect the same will be true of Out of the Abyss.
I think they ment exactly what they said. I think WotC is setting FR up to be the Heart of D&D where all roads lead to the FR.
I know little of FR as I did not follow it in 1e and 2e (My hayday) but I am lead to believe that it is VERY diverse. I think every AP will be developed for FR with support for other worlds listed in the back like in PotA. As much as I would love to see a new Dark Sun book/box set, I think the most we will see is a Desert AP at some point set in a FR desert (sorry I don't know the name of a FR desert but im sure there is one) with options to port the AP to Dark Sun probably acompanied by a player compainon PDF including DS characters and Races. Ravenloft would probably be an AP including Terror etc and by the nature of Ravenloft it can invade FR at any moment so still fits in with the FR is the Heart theory. I think instead of getting a manual of the planes we will see a Planescape book with planescape effectivly taking the place of the Manual of the Planes. In other words I think the "setting" books of prior editons we will see, will be FR adventure paths flavored like older settings not campaign setting books.
While this is not what I had in mind when D&D 5e was anounced I think this may be WotC strategy to "Support" old worlds and still focus on FR and make it the default setting. While I hope that I am wrong I don't see how it would be humanly possible to supprt many or even a handfull of the old settings or even more than just FR at the pace that they are currently operating with.
I am not throwing rocks at the D&D team, I love 5e and its the 1st time I have returned to D&D since the end of 2e. I am attempting to understand the direction of the game, and the strategy to manage what must be an overwhelming amount of Lore, Characters, Settings, and fans of 4 prior editions.
What do you think? Does my theory hold any whater or am I completly off base with the little evedence we have. |

| #40gmanjkdJul 15, 2015 18:08:49 | Having never truly experienced the realms back in the day its all new to me so im growing to really appreciate it, but what keeps me interested in D&D is the variety of great settings. To me D&D has always been the game i play when I want variety ie. Dark Sun, FR, Kara-Tur, Ravenloft, Planescape, Spelljammer. Im concerned that if D&D trully is just FR moving forward i may enjoy my time with it and them move on. I guess im saying to me D&D's uniqueness. ...the one thing IMO it does better than any other game is offer the variety in settings. Without that variety it loses its greatest strength. Just my opinion. I hope i am wrong. I also hope that Wotc seduces me and i have a long lasting 10+ year love affair with 5e. Here's to dreaming. |
| #41arnwolf666Jul 30, 2015 14:50:57 | I would like different setting to be very different. A conan like setting. A BTVS/ Angel like setting. A far future setting. Dark Ages/ Medieval Setting, Steam Punk Setting, Diesel Punk Setting, Far Future setting where there are wizard and space ships and technology. Stop making all setting just variation of the other. |
| #42Slit518Jul 30, 2015 16:13:11 | A Conan setting would be awesome! |
| #43gmanjkdAug 01, 2015 20:11:53 | I think its very likely that WotC is laying a foundation to release another setting (Beyond FR) in the near future....ok maybe a year or two lol. With the surveys, laying the groundwork for Psionics, a few new races, and now some level of madness rules in the OotA AP. All of these things need to be in place before they release Dark Sun, Eberron, or Ravenloft. I find it very encouraging. |

| #46Ath-kethinAug 03, 2015 5:32:16 | I have followed Dark Sun since the original '91 boxed set (which was actually the first D&D product I owned), so I feel comfortable in saying that the two settings are very different. One of the most obvious is that Thule has no desert area at all - at least in the continent as defined in the setting book. Thule is more than anything else in the spirit of Fritz Leiber's Lankhmar, with magic being rare dangerous for humans to use, and likely to cause insanity. Various Lovecraftian elements abound, from cults dedicated to the Great Old Ones to races hidden for centuries from the 'civilized' world to terrifying eldritch Secrets hiding int he glaciers. There is a free download on rpgnow if you search for Primeval Thule called the Traveler's Guide; I strongly recommend checking it out. It will answer many of your questions. Be aware: like Dark Sun, Thule resents major changes to the normal D&D plethora of intelligent humanoid races, and eliminates some. Unlike Dark Sun, Thule explicitly allows for any monster or race you want to use - the general isolation of one region from another allows small enclaves of anything you want. |
| #47Ath-kethinAug 03, 2015 5:35:07 | Responding on these forums from my phone always plays hell with my formatting (and spelling). I apologize for the wall of text above. But I would say that if you are a fan of Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser, Conan, et al., Thule will be to your liking. Even though it lacks true deserts. |
| #48halvgrimAug 06, 2015 6:51:22 | I would like some story lines with humans or humanoids rather than monsters, demons and dragons:
