To be honest, I'm not even sure what it will look like as a Striker. :P I guess I'm sorta hoping for a ranged-weapon-based Divine class. Cleric doesn't have such a build (although it probably could), but I'm not sure either Paladin or Invoker are suited to that, thanks to their roles. Thus, I'm hoping that the Avenger has a ranged weapon build, in whatever role it ends up (which, like you said, will probably be Striker).
#3 anubis_reynard Jan 13, 2009 14:45:36	Paladin twisted Divine power to a defender class power so subtle, most people seem to think it's a leader power- the ability to retroactivly have tanked attacks that have already gone through. Perhaps the Avenger will have access to Harm spells?

#6 rikiji Jan 14, 2009 10:09:13	It is; I thought they confirmed a Divine Striker? While highly probable - I don't believe it's been confirmed officially. That said, I do believe there was mention of at least two striker classes in PH2, and so far we've seen all the new classes except Avenger, Shaman and Sorcerer. Shaman is a confirmed leader and Sorcerer was supposed to be a controller (although that may be in contention now) so by process of elimination, the Avenger is probably a striker.

#20 SongSooGumbup Jan 15, 2009 18:42:31	hmm . . . I don't know why but the title "Avenger" makes me think of the witch hunter class of a popular MMORPG. WotC can do whatever they want to do with their game, but an avenger seems like someone who considers him/herself the judge, jury, and executioner. I suppose a righteous executioner could be a defender, but when you mix all three . . . I just see someone who suddenly appears and says "You have been judged for your crimes and your punishment will be swift." This just seems more in line with the striker class. It doesn't have to be limited to good characters either. I just finished "The Dark Elf Trilogy" and half the priestesses of Lolth could fit the above description. I've never played a Drow character before, but if I had to emulate the book, I think Briza would be a fun character to roleplay.
