Hello,

Recently I posted a new thread here voicing my opinion in what I hope to see in a future release. Apparently, that is not the purpose of this forum, because it appears that my thread rubbed people the wrong way.

I want to give the good folks at Wizards my opinions on what I hope to see in the future. If this is not the place to do it, then can someone point me in the right direction?

Thank you.

Want to speculate about what's next in Dungeons & Dragons? Here's the place to discuss teasers and preview and your hopes for the future of the game.

This is more of a gossip forum. I don't think I've ever seen a WotC_ post in here. I have, however, seen a few WotC_s post in the Dark Sun forum, surrounding big changes. Way back when, Scott Rouse would post in the GSL forum, but I hear he works for Microsoft now (Xbox Live brand management, I believe?). I think the D&D Insider forums might get WotC_ attention, but I don't look at them that often.

You might be able to send a message to a particular developer. I have no idea if they'll get back to you, and there are many reasons why they might not, including them having nothing to do with anything you want to discuss. (The people who choose the art might not even have forum accounts.)

You might also try going through customer service, but if the request is "who do I talk to about cover art selection?" they will probably be at a loss. First-line support is a hellish nightmare of a job, and it's not really their fault - they're not allowed to help you with something they're not trained to do (I'm speaking about the customer service industry in general, though, as I've never spoken to WotC CS). If you've got an unusual issue, you almost always have to escalate to someone with the authority to think.

A simple "this art is wrong, change it" message is probably going to get you written off as a crackpot. In the past I've used this forum to criticize WotC's art choice for their Essentials product line, although I (1) recognized that this was the art that was going forward, so my hope was more that if it's noticed that they wouldn't make such artwork a new trend, (2) offered a detailed critique of why I thought the art was a bad selection, and (3) acknowledged the merits of opposing opinions. In short, I used a discussion board with the intention of using it for discussion, and started by informing others of my position in a way that would promote productive discourse. I found it to be an enjoyably engaging exercise, which is probably the best you can hope to actually accomplish.

The Future Releases forum is meant mostly as a place to speculate, discuss, and wish list(personally I find this to be pointless, but it can lead to some good discussion) aspects of products that will be coming out in the future. Frankly if you want to tell WotC your opinions your best bets would be emailing them or writing them....not that I would expect asking for a cover change after the book has probably alrady been sent to the printers to be any more effective through these two means, but then WotC might actually look at it and it might be more effective for other requests.

I found it to be an enjoyably engaging exercise, which is probably the best you can hope to actually accomplish.

O_o You were clearly not on the internet when this happened. :P

Would speculating on future errata count has future release?

Because alot of threads should be transfered here.

No there is the errata sub forums for handling that sort of stuff.

Just because you rubbed people the wrong way does not mean you posted in the wrong place.

I want to give the good folks at Wizards my opinions on what I hope to see in the future.

that's different.  The audience for this forum is not Wizards, but the other forum-goers.  If you wish to communicate with Wizards, send them an emal or a letter.  There is a "Contact Us" button at the bottom of the screen with the information for contacting them.

Don't let it bother you (wondering about the function/purpose of this sub forum), as it goes, Community Business isn't always about Community Business either. They likely should merge both together to some extent.
