Okay... I've got my new iPad in hand... it's magical, it's revolutionary, it now provides instant access to all things Compendium related without dividing me from the action with a vertical screen... now when do I get official support for an interactive character sheet? Tongue out

New iPad eh, congrats you are obviously rich and foolish

But I think you might want to get the program 'masterplan' and see if it runs on it.

Well I'm curious to know if it does.

Bootcamp plus Character builder should get the job done. :p

It sounds like a fun way to play, but honestly, I don't think it'd be significantly more efficient than printing out your sheet.

Although, as a DM, I can see it being convenient for sharing images to better describe the setting.

Go to iplay4e.com. They even have a tablet view for the interactive character sheets already for use with the ipad and you can roll all your skills, attack rolls, damage rolls etc... with it.

Forget the Ipad! When do we get a D&D app for the Android platform? I would give my left kidney to get a version of the Compendium browsable on my Droid.

When WotC hires a solid and reliable tech team that can produce applications for either system on reasonable deadlines.
They've been ignoring iPods and iPhones for a while - likely hoping they were a fad and they wouldn't have to learn new programming - and instead focused on laptops and netbooks. Now we can expect every fifth gamer to have a tablet or iPad/smartphone and laptops/netbooks are falling to the side. Oops. Nice try on the DDI Tools but 5 years too late.

Actually none of the people I game with have iPhones or iPads, but we all have at least one, and some two, laptops for school, work or personal use.  I am considering a netbook simply for the portability. The iPhone is still somewhat of a niche market and anything that can be done on an iPad, as far as I know, can be and has been on a netbook for some time.

In programming, as in anything, you look for low hanging fruit, more bang for your buck kind of stuff. With Windows, good or bad, holding a 90% share of the market that's where programmers concentrate their work. Anything that runs on a netbook will most likely run on any tablet made by a major PC manufacturer.

I haven't actually used an iPad yet but what I have seen and heard can be summed up, too big for a phone, not enough power to be a legitimate tablet.

For now, I'll stick to my laptop and keep an eye out for a good netbook or tablet PC. That's where the software is focused.
