I have my copy of Heroes of Shadow pre-ordered from Amazon.ca, but I probably won't get it until early May and I want to start to play with the vampire.  Does anybody know when the content will be up on the Character Builder?  Updates are suposed to be faster now right?

WotC Trevor has gone on record saying that the plan going forward will be that books will uploaded into the character builder on their release date, starting with Heroes of Shadow on April 19th.

He posted an update on Friday afternoon saying that the expected date was unchanged.

Given their track record, I would not be surprised to see a delay of a week crop up, and I would be very pleasantly surprised if they met the deadline without a hitch.

If I remember rightly, HoS was the book where they were going to have the info hit the builder at the same time the book officially goes on sale, so, April 18th or 19th or whatever the actual release date is.

19th. This upcoming tuesday. This is one deadline they really need to hit. It would be a big morale booster. For me, anyway. Might make/break my sub.

Plus, DDI people who does not have access to physical books due to not living in USA (like me) benefit greatly from being able to see the new toys on the release date, instead of having to wait for a month till they are up in the Compendium / lots of months till the book is translated and starts being sold in stores (latest release in the best bookstore here in my city? Martial Power 2).

Ouch! You have my sympathies. Since your English is obviously excellent, though, have you considered not waiting for D&D books to be translated into your native language and just ordering the English versions online from someone like Amazon who will ship internationally?

The book's cost (when changed from dollar into brazilian reais), plus the shipping tax, plus the time it takes for the book to arrive (normally over two weeks), plus the fact that this game is errata'ed so frequently (or at least used to), all together makes me prefer DDI instead. I used to buy the .pdf version when WotC released them, but now even that is gone. I usualy buy the ones I want the most in my trips to USA and England, once every couple years.

There never really was a given time in the past; it was generally sometime around 1PM-2PM Eastern, if I remember rightly (so shortly after they got into the office out on the West Coast). I don't know about updates to the online builder, but you can check the DDI forum to see when announcements went up, I think. Could give a ballpark figure.
