When will there be a new edition of D20 modern and I don't mean "this book requires D&D so and so" I mean a complete stand alone rule set geared twoards modern with its own rules for starting clesses etc....
AFAIK, there has been no official word on a "4E Modern" yet. I understand that there's at least one 3PP product or project along these lines though, although I don't know enough to tell you anything about it.

I suppose that's accurate, but you're referring to a version of D20 Modern roughly based upon the rules of 4E D&D, correct? Might as well then call it "4E Modern". (There was a "modern" game during 2nd Edition AD&D, called "Alternity", which WotC also acquired but eventually discontinued. Concepts from it became part of D20 Modern.)
Have Wizards shown any interest in producing a non-D&D RPG since 4th Edition came out? Maybe they're cooking one up in secret, but I suspect that all their RPG focus is going into 4e. I'd also have my doubts as to whether the 4e framework is the best one to imitate for a modern-world game.

Do you mean Star Wars Saga? That came out before 4e appeared. I know they did a few supplements afterwards, but not whether these were done after 4e's launch.

Heh. The Saga site does indicate that the line is being supported, but the Learn to Play link goes to an article written in 2002!
Still, supporting an old RPG isn't quite the same as producing a new one. I've seen no evidence yet that WotC is producing any new RPGs.

Agree and agree. WotC definitely appears to be focusing nearly all of its (RPG) attention on 4E D&D, and it is a bit hard to imagine the mechanics of powers in 4E working well with a world where most attacks are made with firearms.

Honestly, one of the things I disliked about 3E (one of MANY) was the sheer volume of books. 4E is releasing too many books too fast for me - what a money drain.
Saga is about at the right release schedule, IMO.
Clone Wars came out in January.
Legacy came out in March.
Jedi Academy came out in May.

4E isn't releasing more than before, I don't think, but unlike during 3E, basically all of its books are part of a single product line, so it's more visible. It's easy to forget how many books came out for 3E under the FR banner, if you didn't play FR; there was a ton of them.
4e is releasing on a good timescale. Personally, I'd been more anxious for my books if they released slower. They may need to slow it down in the future to extend the edition out more years, especially if they don't come up with any more Power Sources past the original 7 (now that Ki's gone).
