I was thinking back fondly to my original Redbox and the pure amazement I felt when I picked up those dice for the first time (20 sides! holy $h!7) . Does anyone know if the new Redbox will contain dice?  and crayons?

32-page book for players, with rules for character creation and a solo adventure
64-page book for Dungeon Masters, with the rules of the game, advice on how to run the game, and adventure content
2 sheets of die-cut tokens for characters and monsters
Cardstock character sheets and power cards
Double-sided dungeon map
6 polyhedral dice

It indeed does come with dice (no d% which is unneeded anyway).  I wonder what the solo adventure would consist of.

My dearest wish for it: A version of the old Red Box one in which you can prevent Aleena from dying if you're smart/lucky.

Fraking Bargle.

Let it go, dude. She got herself magic missiled. She ain't comin' back.

Smile

Think of it this way... it's better than getting devoured by an owlbear.

At least nowadays Bargle would have to roll an attack roll!

I wonder how different the Dungeon Master book in the Red Box will be from the DM Booklet from the quick start rules.  I used that book quite a bit at the table when we were getting started for quick rules reference. Because of the size it was better for "in-game" reference than my DMG.

I wonder: Will Aleena and Bargle be making a comeback in the New Redbox?

I am wondering that as well. A remake of that adventure could easily be the solo adventure.

I still have the d12 from my old Red Box, and a chunk of the crayon.

I'm silly excited about a new box.

Yes the dice must be unpainted and a white crayon must be provided for ultimate enjoyment.

I too still have a piece of the crayon!  I think we should petition WoTC to put unpainted dice and a crayon in the new RedBox.  Old School to the max.

Oooohhh!! Why didn't I get those in my red box?? Or maybe I was too young and I lost everything, but it would strike me as odd. Maybe the contents varied by country. Plus, there have been two or more editions of the same "around the 80s" red boxes, right?

However, I think I'll buy the new red box, just for old times' sake Smile
... Good job marketing that, WotC!
