| #1zagora_01Mar 29, 2011 10:14:33 | Well it is two days till the end of the month, and there are four articles that have yet to be released for this month. It must mean there is some real hard playtesting and double checking going on to make sure they aren't broke, flawed or unbalanced. I for one cannot wait to see what the Warlord is going to look like. |
| #2majesticmooseMar 29, 2011 10:22:53 | I'm genuinely considering writing a letter to the customer service dept asking for a prorated fee for DDI this month if we don't get the full spread of articles. Maybe like 25% of my fee back. Not because I need the money, but just for the principle of the thing. I hardly expect them to agree. But I figure making a vocal protest like that is good just to keep them grounded. |
| #3ah_stormbringerMar 29, 2011 12:58:16 | I can't see them coming out before the end of the month. I still have a DDI account but it seems less and less worth it as we do not get what we are supposed to every month. The content we do get is only so so at best. |
| #4darknesscreepingMar 29, 2011 13:07:19 | Faith and Heresy and Unearthed Arcana: Henchmen are out now. Try to contain your excitement. |
| #5majesticmooseMar 29, 2011 13:09:00 | I just noticed. read them. |
| #6Lady_AurallaMar 29, 2011 15:10:03 | They halve the amount of content we get and still can't get it done on time, they need to hire some more monkies with typewriters. |
| #7bageljayMar 29, 2011 16:07:09 | I'm willing to give them the extra day on friday if they get out by the end of the week. I have noticed that the articles have been posted around midnight (here in the states) and have been error free. In the past articles have been linked from the main site and some links where for previous articles, or parts were missing, or links would be double posted, for short periods of time. So I have noticed an improvment in quality. |
| #8Damon_TorMar 29, 2011 17:57:50 | I'm genuinely considering writing a letter to the customer service dept asking for a prorated fee for DDI this month if we don't get the full spread of articles. They've been giving out refunds for coming short on content since January, you just need to ask. Since they advertized "120 pages of content per month" up through December 2010, they really don't have a choice in the matter. |
| #9majesticmooseMar 29, 2011 22:12:46 | Well of course the articles were posted to the main site about 20 minutes after I posted that I'm not going to complain. If I get shorted an article or two I don't mind, but 4 out of 5 of the exclusive content articles was looking a bit bleak. |
| #10_Mithreinmaethor_Mar 29, 2011 22:39:50 | Well of course the articles were posted to the main site about 20 minutes after I posted that I'm not going to complain. They just need to not post anything and then post a compiled issue at the end of the month. Just like if you had to buy it off the shelf. Because there is no way they are going to make the people around here happy ever no matter what they do. |
| #11malisteenMar 29, 2011 22:47:56 | I don't know, a lot of us were pretty happy about six or eight months ago. |
| #12lokiareMar 29, 2011 23:34:44 | I know, six or eight months ago I was having heated arguments about the sorcerer class. Now all the arguments are about the quality of the game and WotC... sad... |
| #13ah_stormbringerMar 30, 2011 4:28:50 | I agree 6 or 8 months ago we were discussing classes on there merits now we are discussing what the hell WOTC is doing now and how the quality has gone in the toilet. |
| #14majesticmooseMar 30, 2011 8:59:50 | Is it just me or is the article for the warlord... uhm what's the word... Bad? |
| #15sfurtwanglerMar 30, 2011 9:03:49 | I don't think the article is "bad", but I don't see why it took more than 30 seconds for them to copy-pasta the warlord entry frmo the PBH into the article. There were some minor changes, but the errata were almost all clarifications not nerfs or buffs that needed playtesting/balancing. The only part that might have taken any time whatsoever was adding a sentence of fluff to each power. For players who are new to D&D and only bought the essentials line of products, this is probably gold, though - since they had no warlord before. Of course, they basically had everything they needed to play warlords through the CB and compendium if they had access to this article. So, no, I wouldn't say the article is bad, but it is certainly "meh". A bad article would be full of broken rules and obvious mistakes. |
| #16majesticmooseMar 30, 2011 9:16:00 | I here you. Bad to me is a 30 page article that I have access to through the compendium, the PHB and the CB, with less than 2 columns of errata. That article could have been 1 page. But yes, your point about the availability to new essentials users is well taken. Still...meh. |
| #17MarandahirMar 30, 2011 10:01:08 | Notably to me, the article is FREE. If all the Class Compendium articles are, it seems to me that they're abandoning the PH1 in favour of combining free Class Compendium articles with the rules reprinted in Player's Essentials. That said, a guess the Epic Destinies and a few of the feats from the original book aren't being reprinted (they said that not all the PH1 exclusive feats would be in the Class Compendium: Feats article; and I haven't heard of an article similar for the EDests). But Wotc looks like they're going to make their deadline, which is good. |
| #18sfurtwanglerMar 30, 2011 10:27:41 | That's a strange definition of "free". It is insider only content, so you've paid for the article by paying your subscription.EDIT: It was pointed out that although it has the insider logo on the front page, it is a free article. |
| #19MarandahirMar 30, 2011 10:38:10 | Umm, no it is isn't? You can access it regardless of being D&Di or not. If I log out, I can still access the article. It's free for everyone. The Calendar even lists it as free. |
| #20Stix_RemixMar 30, 2011 10:47:08 | I can access the article as well, so it is free (though it does have the "insider" logo on the homepage). I think it's odd they renamed the Warlord to Marshal. |
| #21sfurtwanglerMar 30, 2011 10:50:21 | Ahhh, I was looking at the article from the homepage and saw the insider logo, and that threw me off. Yeah, being free makes a lot more sense. |
| #22Kaviyd3Mar 30, 2011 12:14:32 | I can access the article as well, so it is free (though it does have the "insider" logo on the homepage). What that really means is that they are setting up room for a Warlord that is not a Marshal. I am curious what that might turn out to be? Maybe they realize that the Archer Warlord needs to be separated out? Or perhaps something truly original is in the works? |
| #23incenjucarMar 31, 2011 11:45:38 | They're just getting it set up in the same format as everything else, even if they never actually make a second warlord. They're not going to split the existing warlord up by build. Don't imagine this into anything more complex than it actually is. |
