Adding to the excitement of the recently announced Tyranny of Dragons from Wizards of the Coast, WizKids Games, a division of National Entertainment Collectibles Association, Inc., is excited to announce an all-new line of pre-painted miniatures for Dungeons & Dragons. The first set of miniatures will coincide with the launch of the highly-anticipated next edition of Dungeons & Dragons tabletop roleplaying game, set to release in summer 2014.
Talk about this news here.

| #2PromFeb 07, 2014 10:54:28 | I was under the impression that WotC were not making miniatures anymore. Hopefully Whizkids sell their product as singles, in a clear plastic bag so people can see what they buy. Then my players would buy miniatures themselves. |
| #3LyonHeartedFeb 09, 2014 5:34:21 | This is great. Can't wait to see the new minis. The group I play with has always used minis to represent their PCs and monsters on a battle grid. We (or at least I) can't resist getting as many minis as possible to help represent our role-playing shananigans. |
| #4Plaguescarred1Feb 09, 2014 6:09:31 | Great news! They look really well made to boot!
I find the barbarian to look very similar to the concept art one made by Conceptropolis |
| #5Plaguescarred1Feb 09, 2014 6:24:14 | An article on The Escapist contain some prices. |
| #6GoncharFeb 10, 2014 3:19:12 | I've never played (and don't ever plan to) Magic or Heroclix, but what the hell is the deal with "blind packaging"? Why would you want to buy something if you don't know what it is? |
| #7JodyJohnsonFeb 10, 2014 8:10:30 | The blind packaging method has been working for 14 years. WotC had it work for 21 sets.
I think a lot of buyers generallly know what they are getting. When you get a case of DDM you know you get half the rares, 1-2 of each uncommon, and 4 of each commons. When you check the previews and the gallery sites you know what they look like.
The secondary market online or in some stores let's you know what you are getting.
Wizkids Pathfinder minis have similar case consistency, so folks know they'll get all the rares, 1-3 of each uncommon, and 3-5 of each common in a case.
It's not a product for everyone straight off the shelf. |
| #8GoncharFeb 10, 2014 9:19:49 | Right but you're talking about buying a WHOLE CASE. You could use the same logic with open packaged products. You know the ratio of what's in a case you buy them all. But when it comes to "hey I want a new mini" you roll the dice and hope for a dwarf fighter but end up with an elf ranger? I don't care about collecting rares or whatever, I just want to be able to purchase the pieces I need/want. |

| #10JodyJohnsonFeb 10, 2014 13:51:10 | I've been buying single pre-paints on the internet since about 2002.
I was buying single un-painted minis via mail order since 1990.
All I see is opportunities to buy the exact miniature I want.
Hero Forge will add another venue with even more precision. |

As a fan and collector of pre-painted minis I greatly enjoy weekly reveals and would like to know this info. (Also, I will be displaying the images at www.minisgallery.com, similar to the weekly updates I display at www.pathfinderminis.com.)
