WOTC - Let us pick which creatures we want to see in the next MM3

I am sure MM3 is already under development and a fair amount of this content is already decided. But could you create something on D&D Insider allowing us to send you our top 5 creatures from the previous edition monster manuals.[/INDENT]
[INDENT]You could tabulate this information and find out the most requested creatures and then if possible do these creatures sooner than later.[/INDENT]

May 25, 2009 11:00:00 I honestly think that we'd be better served by having WotC bring out monsters that they think they can well, not just those that are the most popular. I'd rather see an obscure or new creature that is interesting then a popular retread that is not.

Same goes for PC races and classes.

What about, Human warriors encounter (Militia), Elf warden encounter (scouts), Eladrin wizards encounter (cabal), tiflin cleric encounter (Sect)...

With various levels, and clues to make easy or hard these encounters pact...

May 25, 2009 11:20:27 This wouldn't be for all of the monsters, just a vote for the top 5 of monsters that had been in previous editions but haven't shown up in 4e yet. I thought for sure certain iconic monsters would be in the first MM, and like so many others I was wondering "Where's the...?"

I think it would be a good idea to do this through DDI. One subscription, one vote. WotC puts up a list of the old-edition monsters we can choose from and we vote from that list. They could even start with open nominations, where we send in one monster nomination per account. Wizards selects a certain number of the most popular ones, and we vote from that list for the top 5.

May 25, 2009 11:22:18 I don't know which creatures were more popular than the Tarrasque, Goblinoids, Kobolds, Trolls, Hags, Giants(there are at least four kinds now as of the MM2) Zombies, Skeletons, Orc, Dragons, Mind Flayers, Lycanthropes, Vampires. I know I missed a few in that list, but my most popular ones are all in there. Anything I don't have, I can make, or ad-lib.

I do agree that I would like to see more original/interesting/creative monsters than rebirth of previous edition monsters....except that I still want to see Baba-yaga and her dancing chicken hut updated from 2e. Maybe I will do that myself though.

Just FYI, I was responding to the post above yours. But I like your idea! It would be a great tool for DMs who campaign by the seat of ther pants or who have those annoying players who go their own way into places the DM hasn't fleshed out yet. (Hmmm, know any players like that, my fellow DMs? Nahhh, of course not! ) Suppose the PCs start a fight in town, which you may not have planned on. The town guard is going to respond to keep the peace. Quick! I need a guard patrol! Oh, crap. The PCs are lost and that cult temple is nearby. Quick! I need a group from the sect! Excellent idea. I just may work some of these out in my downtime and put them on index cards.

Also the humanoid MM idea is awesome as well. Especially since that is for myself the VAST majority of the enemies my PCs face.

They could just as well place 5 monsters all written-up and have us vote for one in the MM.... then release the losers through DnDi content (the magazines)

May 25, 2009 15:39:55 Yeah, that'll go over like a fart in church. The thing about voting is, it generates a lot of arguements, and right now, Arguments are something that WotC would like to avoid.

If they can pull it off, I say more power to them. Also, they've probably just about completed work on the content in MM3, so if this were to happen, it would probably be MM4 or something.
