As noted by Trevor in the stickied/locked post in DDI General.

Today's update was another that was heavy on bug fixes. We addressed  almost 200 bugs this time around, as well as some server and client side  stability issues. You can find a more detailed list of those bugs here.

Character Builder

  • Dragon 394 Content

  • Dungeon 285 Content

  • Added blank portrait option

  • Power Cards now properly ordered on character sheet

  • Play data cards added (such as action point card and abbreviated character sheet card)

Compendium

  • Dragon 394 Content

  • Dungeon 285 Content

Looking Ahead

We continue to squash bugs and add features to the Character Builder -  we'll have more news on next month's feature additions as we near the  end of February. We're also moving ahead with the D&D Virtual Table  and Adventure Tools betas. The focus for the AT beta at this point is to  make sure that we get the monster import feature working for the VT.  Once that's accomplished, we will look at adding functionality to the  tool and have the beta testers check out those features as well. As  always, have fun with the new content and make sure to report any bugs  you find, and stop by the D&D Insider and Character Builder forums to join in on the conversations.

If the Dragon 394 content is in the builder, where is the Executioner?

So sad, i was hoping to get one of my players into the CB instead of paper only.

Oh well.

In the mega-bug list, I didn't see Inherant Bonuses getting turned on for Dark Sun characters, nor an option to use them anywhere.  Is this still requiring the "use the old character builder to turn those on" work-around?

I have poked WotC to find out.

Was also hoping for the Executioner and Inherent Bonus's...

Still glad to see the extra communication so far, and to see all these bugs getting fixed on a regular basis.

Hm, Dual Wielding finally works, excellent..

Still no Set Item support though :/  Even if it just gave a card if you had the items in the set.. or if the compendium supported set items in some way so I could print THAT out, instead of having to refer to AV2 constantly.

Or even just put up a dragon article of just a list of all the set items and their benefits.

Strangely, I am getting a crash every time I pull up the online CB. I'll play around a bit and file a ticket, but I am curious if anyone else is having this.

I also noted that the Essentials classes for the March of the Phantom Brigade do not have the Dragon Magazine options available to them (i.e Pyromancer, Earth Domain etc).

Also, there is no Executioner, which was published in Dragon 394.  It isn't even in the home game list that includes all classes.

I'm not sure the update got pushed to the server.  I just now loaded the builder at 2:45 pm CST, and there was no real download before the builder itself loaded.  Usually when there's an update, I'll get the white screen with the circle of dots and percentage counter for a little bit while the new data downloads.

The version number also seems the same as the last one:  1.0.192.0.  But that may just be my aging memory playing tricks on me.

I have my forum settings set for 40 posts per page so only show 1 page.  And there are currently fewer than 20 posts in the forum so it wouldnt be too hard to peruse them before posting is all I was saying.

You should be using version 1.2.198.0, according to "The Twitter".

Try CTRL-refreshing the page.

I can confirm that this is true for Chrome.

Firefox and IE both show the latest update number.

I think you just have bad internets and/or a bad computer.

I am having no problem with the builder currently and I have used it in Firefox, IE and Chrome all within the last 20 mins or so.

I get 192 with Firefox, despite clearing cache. I tried another PC and it showed the new version and did not have the problem. So, it seems to be some sort of cache-related issue.

It is possible that anyone getting the "freeze" / crash issue is getting the 192 version on their usual browser and won't get it on a browser that has not previously used the tool.

I believe the "E"s signify that those are pregen characters from D&D Encounters.

The E's are random, click on them and they bring up a Pregen from last season of Encounters. I don't know whether you can load them or not into the builder though.

I posted here on my fix to the freezing CB issue.

I can confirm that Inherent bonuses are still not an option (for either Dark Sun or any other PCs). That's a big shame as it was a known issue that was reported many times. It also impacts a ton of gamers as inherent bonuses are a core rule for the Dark Sun setting and also used in other settings by some DMs.

There is a workaround for it, which basically involves making or importing a PC into the old character builder, then exporting and importing into the online CB. The online CB will then show the inherent attack bonus and correctly include it in all power calculations.

It is really nice to see Encounters pregens - I hope the ones for the season starting tomorrow can be added soon instead of the current ones (from the last season, no longer playable). It is good to have (under Custom) the option to see what is legal for March of the Phantom Brigade, though there seem to be some issues with what content is allowed.

Lastly, the list of bugs that was squashed is really big. It shows some nice work by the team. The online CB is getting to where it should be. Thanks!

Guys; caches and Silverlight: Silverlight has its own cache. You may need to clear that too before the program re-loads fully. R-clicking on the app in Chrome should bring you to the relevant menu. not sure about other browsers.

Trevor has said, elsewhere, that the Executioner Assassin (despite all assurances to the contrary) was not actually a finished version of the class, and that the final version will appear in Heroes of Shadow, and thus be added to the Character Builder once that comes out.

So yeah, close to a year from first seeing the Executioner to it going into the CB. No idea what WotC was thinking with this decision.

That apparently only the Executioner needed testing and that phoey on the old way of updating the builder with the coming soon stuff?

Within Windows the cache directory for Silverlight is at

C:\Users\YourName\AppData\LocalLow\Microsoft\Silverlight\is

is = isolated storage

  • Play data cards added (such as action point card and abbreviated character sheet card)

How nice - of course we still have yet to put in an option to turn off these cards so now we get to waste yet more paper and ink on printing out information that was already on the printout...

Sigh.

Print to PDF + Quick PDF on my Droid for the win.

I do agree that they need to implement an option to remove and/or hide powers and pages we don't need.
