We'll keep you informed through forum posts and broadcasts when we have specific update details and dates.

I dig the nicer interface on the front of the CB for sample characters. It's a nice touch.

I'm enjoying poring through the new HoS characters now.

Nice Job.

I was able to build a 10th level executioner assassin for one of my players without any issues.

The OCB has come a long way, it was pleasant to use.

I gotta say that this is how it's supposed to be done. I'm happy today, and busy playing with all the new build options.

I'm really hoping the MB gets finished soon. Once that is working properly I'll feel very good about DDI again.

Today's release is a huge step in the right direction.

Just a quick post while I wait for it to load up.  I love that they put the Marshal and Weaponmaster in today along with HoS. Do the new printing options include actually printing a PDF and not an image file?  Or is it just different character sheets.

Hey guys...has anyone else notice that when you are in the marketplace that the misc. has no items?  Or is it just my computer?

Thanks

I want a functional builder before I consider resubbing. It´s still nice to see that they work on the programs though.

Noticed a couple bugs.
Melee training (dexterity) was not showing up on the power card for a melee basic attack on my Monk.
My avenger was not showing that power of skill made one of his powers a melee basic attack.
A vampire I made was not showing that he gets a bonus to damage equal to his cha modifier on all vampire attacks.

A nice feature would be the ability to copy and paste the new character summary. Hell copy and paste would be damn useful on all of the outputs, but the summary is close to useless without it.

Cool, that works. Seems that the line endings are Unix only however as they don't display in notepad. But I am still very happy with this addition.

I will also make a post in that thing mudbunny requested I do

I'm not a regular here, so I may have missed something: What is the purpose/benefit to having "Fighter" and "Warlord" no longer turn up as classes in Compendium?

I'm pretty sure PHB is still 4E content, and I thought it was an accidental deletion until I came here and saw the formal update notice.

Speaking of the compendium, is there a reason it has shortened how much info it gives about character classes?  It was nice to be able to look up the essentials classes in the compendium on the CB to see what level they got everything at and what it did.  Now I can only view what looks to be level 1 for any class as far as features go.

Thanks for returning that feature, but it is missing the characters name and level as the first line.

They have been renamed Weaponmaster and Marshal.  They are still there.  It is a cosmetic change to keep them in line with the Essentials style class names.  This is mentioned in the OP.

Thanks -- I read the OP, as I indicated. But I do not keep up with all the books, and I do not regularly come to the fora (both optional, so far as I know!), so it was a complete surprise when Fighter was no longer a class.

It would have made more sense to me to have at least something turn up for those of us "old-fashioned" types. Even a page with a pointer saying "Fighter has been renamed Weaponmaster."

Obviously, since I'm using Compendium, I'm still a Wizards customer even without being one who keeps up with all the Essentials. I realize I'm spitting into the wind on that last point, and it's over and done and pointless to debate, but if TPTB read this, a placeholder/pointer entry in Compendium would be much appreciated when something vanishes (even if what vanishes is just a name).

I would like to know what this is about as well.  I searched for "night crawler" in the compendium and it brought me to the Vampire class information (which it should given that is a class ability at later levels) but the actual compendium entry had no information about class abilities past certain early levels.  Is this by design?

Certainly the compendium needs to provide all the relevant information for any class in it, the new cut down Essentials class descriptions don't manage that.

However frost, force, lightning and ect can change to their respective damage with any key-words at will.

Am at work so do not have my books infront of me.

So the players hand book pg 234 is invalid? Are the other elemental weapons getting the same enhancement? This really sucks

Unoffical errata then. It's actually an improvement I think.

The rules say paladins can pick it, so fix the builder already.

Actually, the rules currently both say that non-cavaliers can pick it, and that they can't. The published article itself states: "Instead of the Pace of the Virtuous Charger class feature, you gain the summon celestial steed power."

Since non-cavaliers don't have Pace of the Virtuous Charger, obviously they shouldn't be able to have the power. So unfortunately, those DMs who don't allow non-cavaliers to choose the power are correct - that is both RAI, and more-or-less RAW.

So yes, the class level should be removed from the power, just like (for example) the warpriest's holy cleansing and resurrection utility powers don't have the level in the power.

Incidentally, this isn't the only problem with this particular article. Players and DMs who only have access to Essentials material would have absolutely no idea what the mount keyword does, since it isn't defined in any Essentials Product.

How the Cav gets the power is irrelevant.  It has a class level and type.  It is therefore selectable in that type slot by that class at that level or later.  By the RAW, Paladins can pick it.  The Compendium and OCB are wrong about it until, or unless, it is errated.

Yes, by raw, it should be selectable.  But it is pretty clear that wasn't the intention.  Either way, they need to fix it, and the Mount keyword and feat need to be clarified.  Do you need the Mounted Combat feat in order to use your Celestial Steed?  But the feat isn't anywhere but in the Player's Handbook!  *headdesk*

thespaceinvader

Apr 21, 2011 11:02:18
I'd argue otherwise.  The improved mount feats were changed during compilation to remove the Cavalier prereq.  Why do that if they were the only class intended to use them?  The NAME OF THE POWER was changed during compilation - if it was intended only to be a cav power, all that would have been needed would be to remove the level.  They left it intact.  Why, if not because it was meant to be used?

Neither of us knows the intention of Mr Schwalb when he wrote the power.  Noone does apart from him.  And he ain't talking.

The Compendium and CB are wrong about this power.  It needs clarifying one way or the other, because it's one of the most commonly asked questions on these forums since it hit the digital tools.  And the utter lack of acknowledgement of this fact from any official channels is beginning to be irritating.

Which is precisely why I said they should remove the level. Perhaps you ought to read my post again.

(Also, the fact it has a type is correct. Since the introduction of Essentials, all powers are either attack powers or utility powers, regardless of whether they have a level. Take a look at the aforementioned holy cleansing or resurrection - both are cleric utility powers. Another example is inspiring word in the updated warlord article, which is now a warlord utility instead of a warlord feature.)

I'd argue otherwise.  The improved mount feats were changed during compilation to remove the Cavalier prereq.  Why do that if they were the only class intended to use them?

That's simply due to the post-Essentials feat design philosophy. When a feat enhances or relies on a class feature, the class is no longer listed as a prerequisite, only the class feature. Have a look at the Staff Fighter article for some examples; Backbreaking Staff and Sneaky Staff don't have rogue listed as a prequisite, only backstab and Sneak Attack respectively. (Interestingly, it seems some of the Class Compendium feats don't conform to this philosophy, while others do.)

Also, check the final sentence of the Improved Mount feat description: "The Improved Mount feats represent specialized cavalier prayers or traditions that make more capable or pow-erful mounts available". I think that makes it pretty clear that cavalier-only is RAI.

Neither of us knows the intention of Mr Schwalb when he wrote the power.  Noone does apart from him.  And he ain't talking.

This article is Mr Baker's baby, not Mr Schwalb's .

Yup.  Magazines still have a two month lag before incorporation into digital tools.  The reason is likely due to possible errata.  Still, I wish they had decided that article could be bumped up to the forefront along with the Class Compendium articles; My Shadar-kai Gloom Pact Hexblade wants his +2 Wis!

Eh, with the stats you can at least do a workaround and give yourself the right 'final' stats, even though it's an invalid distribution pre-racials.
