I updated in July just fine. Closed the Program.
A few days later, I re-updated fine as well.
I then made a character. Closed the Program.
Now it won't open. The errors I get are:

The handle is invalid. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007006 (E_HANDLE))

System.AurgumentException: Parameter is not valid
at System.Drawing.Font.GetHeight (Graphics.graphics)
at System.Drawing.Font.GetHeight()
at System.Drawing.Font.Get_Height()
at System.Windows.Help
And then some other stuff with square symbols and such.

     Did anyone ever answer this in some other form?  I've just come across this problem myself.

I've just got this on my June update.  It worked ok immediately following the update but now it crashes.  The repair facility didn't seem to help.  Odd.

Altered firewall to allow character sheet viewer through specifically and repaired again and it seems to work.  I have no idea if that was what did the trick though.

I ran across it. After some reading about the error, I tried the following:

1. Uninstall the Character Builder.
2. Go to Microsoft.com and search for .NET, then download the .NET 3.5 SP1.
3. Install .NET 3.5 SP1. Even if Windows claims you already have it, try to install it anyway.
4. Reboot. Regardless of whether the .NET update looked like it installed or not.
5. Reinstall the Character Builder.
6. Update the Character Builder.

This seems to have worked for me.
