I was wondering if there was any way to output a simplified version of the character sheet from the Character Builder for new players, kids, demo games, etc. To be completely honest, the current character sheet can be VERY intimidating when presenting the game to new players. I've even had a person who was previously interested in playing D&D change their mind after seeing one of the Character Builder sheets.

Since the Character Builder does al the math in the background , it would be great if it would output just the necessary totals in a more "graphic" and visually pleasing format.

The only thing I can immediately think of is to go thru and delete the non essential stuff. Unlock the grids and move things around a bit. Play with it for a bit and you may get what you are looking for.

I've tried that and it does help a bit, but the sheet still looks like some kind of sadistic tax form. All the modifier boxes is what seems to really throw people. During actual play, all you really need are the totals. You don't even need the ability scores after character creation—just the modifier plus half level.

If you dig through the blog "Playing D&D with Porn Stars" (Mostly work safe, except for the name), you will see a character sheet that the author came up with for his players.

I have seen folks ask for this from the beginning. I would like to be able to print the sheets somewhat like the pre-gen characters that Wizards uses now.

But I don't suppose Wizards really cares and don't expect them to respond.Â
