| #1sotp_seamusMay 13, 2011 12:28:40 | I'm running a Monk/Lyrandar Wind-Rider with Lightning Club +2, and the Eberron Shard of Lightning. My to hit breakdown for Dragon's Tail on the CB reads:
The Lyrandar Wind-Rider feature Storm Adept grants a +1 bonus to hit for thunder and lightning powers. Since I have a Lightning Club and the Lightning Shard, it should read like this:
Along with that, the damage bonus breakdown reads as:
Now, with the Dragonshard and Storm Adept, it should look more like this:
Now, unless I'm wrong (and I could be), using a weapon that causes lightning damage applies the lightning keyword to the power, making it subject to the Storm Adept bonus. I also have the Arc of the Flashing Storm power, and since lightning is in the power's description, I assume that's why Storm Adept applies. I know Dragonshard bonuses are not working as of right now, but if a lightning weapon makes it a lightning power, then shouldn't Storm Adept be included? |

Secondly, the Lightning weapon isn't always-on, and the CB seems to default to the assumption that elemental weapons are not 'turned on' as it were, so their elemental damage is not assumed by the power - those extras, you have to work out for yourself. Grab a pen ;) |
| #3sotp_seamusMay 13, 2011 18:05:27 | Yeah, I knew about the Dragonshard thing. I just included it for completeness's sake. So, I guess that means I'm sort of right. We probably should be able to factor 'turned on' status into the cards, so nobody gets shorted on their abilities without realizing it. |
| #4llathosMay 14, 2011 7:37:05 | The same problem exists for feat bonuses like VenomHand Master and SpiderKissed weapons. I didn't realize it was the entire category of "elemental dmg enhancers don't auto-calculate for elemental weapons" until I saw your post. |
| #5sotp_seamusMay 14, 2011 9:02:21 | Then, I hate to say it, but doesn't that render the CB somewhat useless with the VT? I want to be able to crank out a character and go, not build a character then redo all the math for its attack powers. Likewise for a print-and-play feature. If I'm in a one-shot, I don't want to have to worry about whether or not all my powers are done right, I just want to be able to play. Now, I don't want to come off as just a complainer, so here's a suggestion. List both sets of numbers on the power card, like is done with multiple weapons. I always assumed that elemental enhancers were always on, and if they're not, we need to be able to see what our options are. |
