| #2NyarlathotepOct 06, 2010 22:50:12 | They did a heck of a job, didn't they. I think the best part is how they gave such fantastic support to this years campaign setting. Bravo. |
| #3renau1gOct 06, 2010 23:16:30 | They did a heck of a job, didn't they. Along with their big marketing push for Essentials and the Encounters ;) |
| #4GMforPowergamersOct 06, 2010 23:26:16 | They did a heck of a job, didn't they. lets not forget they have gone out of there ways to stop our fears... |
| #5OreOct 07, 2010 6:43:26 | And they fixed all the bugs in the current suite of tools before deciding to work on the next one.![]() |
| #6Kalex_the_OmenOct 07, 2010 6:51:41 | You guys miss the days of absolute and total silence, don't you? I really must applaud you for your high levels of maturity, not to mention your unerring sense of tact. Bravo... ...brav-o!Regards, Kalex the Omen |
| #7asmodeusloreOct 07, 2010 7:49:58 | Much as I can relate to the feelings behind this post, it really doesn't do anything constructive to help the situation, does it? |
| #8borogamerOct 07, 2010 7:53:53 | Yeah, but we did just get told that the promiced update "soon" is actaully, half an update next week, the rest of the update "not soon", and some other stuff which we are going to give you no info on "soon". Way to really shed some light on the subject Wizards. |
| #9renau1gOct 07, 2010 8:21:51 | You guys miss the days of absolute and total silence, don't you? I really must applaud you for your high levels of maturity, not to mention your unerring sense of tact. Bravo... No sir, I was thinking and posting the same thing before they broke their silence with the "here's half an update" "we're working on something totally cool, but just wait" "Maybe we'll get DS into the CB, but sometime later, but not for sure" |
| #10OreOct 07, 2010 8:39:05 | You guys miss the days of absolute and total silence, don't you? I really must applaud you for your high levels of maturity, not to mention your unerring sense of tact. Bravo... If the only response they can think of when they hear complaints is silence then they have already failed as a company. Quit assuming the worst. It's better to assume we will be heard this time (although I guess it is being too much of an optimist to believe we are going to be heard this time when we are rarely listened to at all). The squeeky wheel gets the oil. If they don't oil these wheels we are going to pop off and roll away. |
| #11Kalex_the_OmenOct 07, 2010 8:42:12 | While the squeaky wheel does indeed get the oil, we have been told numerous times by VCLs that the obnoxious, and/or rude wheel gets ignored. Although my post was in keeping with the obnoxious and rude nature of the thread it was intended to make a point. Just sayin'. Regards, Kalex the Omen |

Although my post was in keeping with the obnoxious and rude nature of the thread it was intended to make a point. Just sayin'. Just to be precise. Not ignored. However, rude or obnoxious posts do make it easier to take a post and put it in the mental bucket marked "internet rage post". |
| #13OreOct 07, 2010 8:48:28 | I can't speak for everyone but I have tried the nice approach. I've done that here on the forums, in emails to customer service and even in person when talking to people from WOTC at events like Gen Con. The nice approach got me nowhere... Don't begrudge me a change in tactics.![]() |
| #14NyarlathotepOct 07, 2010 8:51:47 | Since there is to be no support in the tools for Dark Sun anyway, and that's the thing I actually want, then what I say or do not say changes nothing. Ergo I might as well get it off my chest. |
| #15hjustinOct 07, 2010 8:52:02 | This is just piling on. I'm sure it has been made abundantly clear to the powers that be that the natives are beyond restless with the current situation. In my experience in retail management, when a customer become deliberately belligerent, no matter what the reason, we're done. Have a nice day. I'm pretty honked off about the current status quo but really all I can do is stop paying for the service. |
| #16borogamerOct 07, 2010 8:53:40 | I plan to. Unless something really changes. Unfortunately I'm paid up for a good while yet ![]() |

Nice Approach

| #18Kalex_the_OmenOct 07, 2010 9:00:50 | I plan to. Unless something really changes. Unfortunately I'm paid up for a good while yet I believe it is possible to cancel your subscription and get a refund for the remaining time. I seem to recall someone in another thread saying they had done just that. So...why don't you give it a try instead of just threatening? Regards, Kalex the Omen |
| #19KM.549Oct 07, 2010 9:05:48 | The nice approach did not get the result most people seem to be looking for. When will the current CB be updated with Dark Sun. Over the last month or so that is what I have seen to be the most requested thing WOTC can do to make customers happy. So WOTC totaaly ignores that and people get more upset. |

Don't begrudge me a change in tactics. How exactly is a vague reference to web tools (absolutley zero specifics) and no mention of intention to include things that would normally have been in this periods updates any better than silence? We already knew they were working on a new tool of some sort (whether actually new or a replacement) and we already knew that the problem with the updates was due to DS and Essentials being too hard to do. So they release a half update without the hard stuff. How is this really new information? All it does is confuse and pour fuel on an already smouldering/flaming disdain. Their actual notifaction really reads (in terms of hard, reliable information that doesn't need to be twisted and analysed to scrape intent out of): We're doing web stuff Next update, even though its 5-6 weeks late will not have this summer and falls big releases in it. |

It's not that I disagree with the points you make about people being upset, but I don't see you making rude or obnoxious posts. The above quote is calm, polite and well reasoned. Bravo to you with no snark at all. Regards, Kalex the Omen |

| #23roark13Oct 07, 2010 9:52:32 | actually, I did the math and it comes out that the 12th of October in "year terms" is April 20th. It is up to each individual to determine whether they think April 20th is early 2011. 12(date) / 31(days in the month) = .387 x(date) / 12(months in a year) = 12/31 12 * .387 = x = 4.645 so the month is 4(april) for the decimal... x-4=.645 .645(how far into the month you are, with 1 as finished) * 31(not right days, but gives you an exact date) = 20 so it is april 20th. If you consider april only has 30 days, it turns out to be 19.35, but you can round it to the next full day, since you can't really have half of a date. That is weird that it comes out to exactly 20 |
| #24borogamerOct 07, 2010 10:12:56 | Surely it would be may? |
| #25JerboaTheFearedOct 07, 2010 10:51:39 | actually, I did the math and it comes out that the 12th of October in "year terms" is April 20th. It is up to each individual to determine whether they think April 20th is early 2011. Not quite. The 4 means that 4 full months have passed. The 0.645 should be applied to the month of May which would make it May 20th. Or you could use 365 in the year, not 12 months. 365 * 0.387 = 141.255 (I'm assuming we aren't talking about a leap year here. )Day 141 is May 21st. Personally, I consider "early" in a year to be some time within the first quarter. Which would be the first 8 days. After that you are in mid-year (or month). YMMV. ;) |

Thanks for not answering the question! How is the vague reference better than silence? The only substance was 'half an update'. Nothing else in Wotc_Trevor's posting served any purpose what so ever. Nothing on when/if DS and Essentials might be included, Nothing about new tools other than they will be web based. Thats quite a significant amount of nothing really, when you look at what people have been asking around here lately: "When do we get CB with Dark Sun and/or essentials, when do we get to know what new tools will be?" |

I did. Better is a judgement call. I don't need to justify my feelings to you. I think it is a VAST improvement. You obviously don't. [Edit] See here for me thoughts about what this may mean. Oh my, I can't believe I screwed that up so badly. You are of course correct. May 20th is the correct date. I personally don't like quarter system for early because then you have early, mid, end and so mid (or end) is half of the year. I perfer to think in thirds, so while April 20th would be early, May 20th would be the beginning of mid year. The announcement was in early october, but not the update IMO. Thank you my fellow nerds for checking up on my math. That is why I showed calculations (easier to spot my mistakes) EDIT: Props to using the day system for a more percise calculation. It accounts for February being so short. Of course, that means you have to convert "early" into days as well. Quarter system would be on April 2nd, thirds system would be on may 2nd |
