I'm a severely new play to the world of DnD, which in my opinion makes this a tad bit funnier.

I created my first character ever about 2 months ago using the character builder and removing the tediousness of everything.

Our DM was nice enough to let me start off as a lvl 2 ranger and i made it all the way to lvl 3... achieving the dying status in multiple encounters.

I had the lowest AC of anyone in the group with 15, and being as nooby as i am, loved to draw attention to myself.

Still, I was wondering why my AC was so low with a dex modifier of 4, then when we made it to lvl 3 i realized, the character creator hadn't equipped my Hide Armor... basically there was a topless elf with a stick chucker running around wondering why he's getting beat up...

Now, I have my armor equipped, and our rogue was nice enough to give me the Magical Hide armor that he had, mainly because he can't wear hide...

Yay 19 AC... now if only i could work on drawing less attention to myself... perhaps i should let the paladin go first?

Good idea. Unlike in other versions of D&D, the ranger is no longer a fighter class (in 4e known as a defender) they are now the ones that deal out the damage. Try letting your defender (paladin) go in first and then you can dance around the edges of the battle dealing devastating amounts of damage the those that the defender has marked or otherwise tied up.

Funny on the not equipping the armor. I noticed that in the older version of the CB, however in the newer versions, it auto equips as you buy it (at least mine does).

Well, in using the character builder I used the add function instead of the auto buy or auto add, so it wasn't automatically equipped. This also caused a problem with beginning gold which was later resolved.
