| #1Kalex_the_OmenOct 07, 2010 9:52:35 | Something that just occurred to me...
Given WotC's past (and assumed present) modus operandi for communication regarding DDI, I wouldn't be surprised if we had access to at least a beta of the new online system as early as next month.
[Edit] Also PaoloM recently talked about hiring on a new team member. Yes, this is something you do when you need help (pure and simple), but it is also something you do when you are about to split off a live team, and still have other development work to do.
Discuss.

So you think that they have thrown out the window the protocol of not talking about a product until it is ready to be released?

| #4frothsofOct 07, 2010 10:02:41 | will the new online system update cb with dark sun and the new feats? will it fix the mb or even give us a date when mb will be fixed, or even tell us that wotc knows that the bugs exist? otherwise who cares |

What did they really say? There's a new tool in development. They've been saying that for months. The only thing they added was that it was web based. We don't even know what this alleged new tool actually is. I am sure we'll have more info...soon.

We don't even know that this new tool is going to be a new version of the CB. Could be anything.

Except that this was more of a press release, or announcement as opposed to some employee coming on to a thread and posting a comment. Very similar to what happened with MB (AT) last year.

| #9kyros_tachyusOct 07, 2010 11:10:09 | I'll reserve judgement on a new tool.
I can't reserve judgement on a further lack of communication from WotC. Guys... honestly... just throw us a bone here. |
| #10drnickOct 07, 2010 11:12:39 | They did. I know it wasn't much but that's what is implied by "throwing a bone". |

Pretty mangy bone.
"That update that's already a month late? That we told you would be ready in the next week or so? Half of it will be ready next week. No date or even time scale for the other half.
All of this is due to something we aren't ready to tell you about yet. We'll just drop the hint it's web-based and let you stew. We are aware that this will create speculation, rumours misinformation, anger and general disatisfaction. But... tough we aren't telling you any more until... 'soon'."
I'd argue this actually reduced the amount of information available. Before we were told that PP, DSCG, DSCC would be in the builder in early october (both september announcements (from WOTC_trevor and Vampire Guy explicity mentions dark sun). Now we are told half of that was right and the other half there is no date for... So not only have we been told that half of the information we had is wrong, we are also given no replacement information.
While we now know "web tools" the lack of information on what this actually is creates a level of noise, which actually makes things worse.
I didn't think they were able to hand out less information than they were. Turns out throwing some misinformation in there means this is actually possible.

| #12Kalex_the_OmenOct 08, 2010 6:21:02 | Over in KM.549's Questions for the WOTC DDi staff thread, PaoloM posted that after next week's update he will definitely have something to say. Looking like I may be right more and more. Of course I expect all the nay-sayers to continue to be obnoxiously negative, but I'm liking what I am hearing from Paolo.

You want more information and I think that's fair. I do too. I'm not sure it's fair to call it "a bone" though. That's all. |
