Jul 17, 2009 0:02:35 Whenever I print on A4 (default paper size outside the US) the far left and right edges of the printout get lost. And I can't even find a way to shrink the output to fit (via the printer driver).

I end up having to use Legal paper then cut the bottom (sure, I could use Letter, but I never use that).

Jul 17, 2009 16:36:24 I had this problem - I tried going into the effects tab of preferences and setting 'print as A4, resize to fit', but that didn't work. My solution turned out to be quite simple - on the first tab of preferences, Paper/Quality, it says "Size is Letter 8.5 x 11in.", change it to A4.
You do need to change it like this for every character sheet/time you print, but it works for me.

Are you using a HP printer?

There's zero good reason not to support multiple paper sizes in the character sheet designer.

The ISO paper sizes are used pertty much everywhere except the US, Mexico and Canada, but obviously thats a significant portion of their market.

However, adding support for multiple papersizes allows for 'fun' customised layouts like squeezing that extra section in here and there on a legal sized sheet, or having back and front all printed on one side of a tabloid/A3 sheet or whatever.

Having written printing engines in .NET and WPF I know that unless you royally screwed the pooch when you began, it really is trivial to add multiple page sizes. You query the selected printer and boom!

We don't want scalling, we want better use of the room available!

Jul 23, 2009 14:05:41 Or maybe we want scaling too. I mean, the CB is such an important product for Wizards as part of DDI, and the final product that comes out of it is the character sheet. I think they know it's important to make it powerful and flexible, they just need to work out the part with paper size selection.

Heck, if I'm using Legal paper as I'm now to print these, it could be good too if the sheet filled the whole page...

I know that here in Canada, while the odd letter/legal system is most common, there are still people who use the ISO sizes and would appreciate being able to print A4.
