Any chance that the delay of the update will allow the ability score options that were supposed to be published last week to make it into the CB?  I'm not really expecting it, but it would be nice, since the data have to have been locked a long time ago.

If  you are talking about the new ones, it'll be a month or two before those hit the CB...

That's what I realistically expect, but I figured it would hurt to ask.

I find it highly unlikely, despite the fact that the coding for that article should take less than an hour.

This is the sort of thing that the move to online SHOULD have enabled the DDI team to add basically whenever.  But I doubt very much it will.

Yeah, you wouldn't think it would take all that long to code, but then there's testing.  Testing is good.

Well you never know. I guess it depends on how long they have had the data to create the article. Normally the Dragon articles are a month or two delayed but for this one it might actually have made it !

Indeed.  Another hour (although, that being said, my initial estimate included basic testing time).  This is not a complex change, and it applies to very few things.

It doesn't look like the update included these, but I didn't really expect it to.

Might be a silly question - but can't you just use the houserule option until it gets updated?

There is no houseruling in the new CB, is there?

Only for certain things, for example ability scores and - with a lot of fiddling - feats you don't meet the prerequisites for.

Just go to the point buy page and change your ability scores to whatever you want.

You can always use a pen.

The pen is mightier than...

...the not-perfect-but-improving online tools that nonetheless STILL save us time and money over buying tons of books and customizing characters and monsters by hand.

It's refreshing to find a thread where people appreciate the hard work and constant grief the developers go through, rather than [female dog] that they didn't get absolutely everything perfect by the first instant of release.

(By the way, I did the math. An annual DDI subscription pays for itself very easily. Even if all you get is a complete & printable monster compendium, you will save just under $15 a year.* On top of that, you also get Dungeon, Dragon, online Compendium for the whole game, and Character Builder. Anybody who says that they are not getting their money's worth out of a DDI subscription has no idea what they're talking about.

*Figure based on the estimated total # number of monsters in the MMs divided by their combined price. Basically, 10 cents a monster.)
