Is it allowable to share a D&DI account amongst a group?
I notice that the Character Builder updates allow several downloads per issuance, enough for all of my group (minus the DM), the compendium which would probably get little to no use, since all of the books are at each session (often multiple copies of some...), and the DMing tools he might or might not use.

So, is that something we are allowed to do, or will an account being accessed by more than one person result in it being deleted?

Please note that sharing your account details is explicitly against the Terms of Service and (if detected) can get your account closed/canceled.

Having 5 installs a month is a measure to allows for both errors in the update process, as well as giving a little flexibility in being able to install on more than one machine owned by the customer (more and more homes are becoming multi-computer homes, I for example have the CB on my laptop as well as my desktop).

While WotC employees have stated they have no issue with allowing your friends/family/etc to use your copy of the Builder occasionally (again, on your computer(s) )- you really should not be giving people your login credentials (and as an IT Security person, there are myriad reasons why that's a bad idea).

Official answer: No, only one person can use an account/DDI subscription info. This includes even printing stuff out.

Unofficial answer: They really don't have a way to find this stuff out, so just be reasonable. Don't print out every article and hand it to everyone you know, try to keep track of who is using the account/character builder and keep it limited to just your group.

The official answer is that absolutely no sharing is allowed, to the point of you and your spouse "should" have separate accounts. That said, there doesn't seem to be much tracking on stuff like the CB beyond the 5 updates a month.
