Adventure Tools and Monster Builder is Trash

May 04, 2011 0:15:21 WotC needs to see as many of us post as many different forum replies as possible in regards to the piece of utter trash they have shoved down our throats yet again.

WotC what happened? Do you just hate us as consumers? Do you want me to continue to stop buying any of your products? Do you want to continue to lose revenue and, therefore, continue to lay people off?

If I were to make a comparison between the old Monster Builder and the new one; it is like comparing Axis and Allies to Candyland. It is like comparing War and Peace to a 3 page Winnie the Pooh story written in crayon.

Have you guys just stopped trying? Did you hire a guy that boxes at night to supplement the meager income you pay him/her to create the current set of terrible online tools?

May 04, 2011 6:37:29 Their business model before was flawed: it was not possible for them to deliver the amount of content, services, and software for the cost of the subscription fees they were charging. They had to either raise subscription fees or lower production. Since there was no good way for them to raise subscription fees and pretend they weren't, they decided to instead reduce the amount they were offering.

Now we are getting complaints about it being bare bones. Give it a rest. They have indicated (I forget which post) that there is going to be a major update sometime this month.

Think of it this way: You are at a grocery store and they are giving out free samples of a new product to try with hopes that you buy more if you like the taste. The OAT is the same. The bare-bones version is that sample (though it is not free, so my analogy breaks down there). It is there to whet your taste. I, for one, don't care for it as it now stands, but I am anxiously waiting for the upgraded version.

I wouldnt call it even a sample. To be honest, to me this so called adventure tool is completly useless and havent improved much since I first saw it in beta a couple of months back. If they cared about their paying costumers they would update the two products side by side until the online version is up to par with the old one instead of releasing this half baked sorry excuse for a program and expect people to pay for it. I find the promises hard to belive, especially not considering WOTC´s trackrecord the last half a year or so. But no one would be happier then me if they managed to get their act together and started to release some quality software.

It breaks down well before that: this is a product that went bad months ago, because the store added tainted milk to the mixture. They keep selling it, and at the same price, promising a new formula is in the works (why not just use the old formula without the tainted milk?) but when they start handing out samples of the new product (only to customers who still buy the tainted formula) the reaction is horrible: it's worse than the old stuff, even the the old stuff isn't even edible to some people anymore. "It will get better" they say "we expect it to be almost as good as the old formula sometime this fall! In the meantime, you are welcome to keep using the tainted version of the old formula."

That's fine, but why don't they just give us the old formula without the tainted milk? At least until they get this new formula up to par.
