hey dragonwolf here, I finally returned to the forums after all these blasted newfangled changes.

I thought things could use a little constructive criticism. First of all this D&DI crap is really getting out of controll. How can they call it digital D&D, when so far the only thing you can actually do digitally, is create characters and monsters? wow, they saved me ten munites of an otherwise boring task.

Where are the damn tools I really need to play digitally?

Things like a maping tool (not involving dungions) would go a long way twards saving time at the gaming table. what about something to help me build towns, create wildernesses and otherwise the world around my players.

Perhaps a tool to make keeping track of all my npc's alot easier, or a shopkeeping and service cost calculator tool.

who's bright idea was this whole mess anyways?

That's very constructive criticism. He's saying that while the CB and MB are useful for about 10 minutes of their time, they were expecting much much more online tools for DDi. There are many of us that feel the same way.

That's not a constructive comment on those apps, it's a dismissal of their usefulness.  "I signed up for DDI and all I got was this lousy Character Builder" is not a compliment to the CB.

I'll offer real constructive criticism by saying that I really appreciate the handiness of the CB and MB, they've made my job as both a player and a DM much easier.  But speaking as a software engineer it's patently obvious that not only are they not fully committed to producing applications, they also lack fundamental knowledge in XML and design.  They are making attempts to involve 3rd-party applications, but the current practices make it very difficult to integrate.  In essence, I like the final output of the existing apps (a playable character or monster) but more improvement is needed in the implementation.

The problem, of course, with my comments is that we've all heard it a million times already.  Smile

Yes that's true. I beleive I started a thread that was discussing the best way to implement the programs, including cross-platform compatibility.

Useful for 10 minutes? Man, you gotta learn to use your PC in a more efficient way.
