What is the best way to install a back up version of the CB to something like a USB pen drive?
For the eventuality of say getting a new computer (something i hope to be able to afford to do soon) or your computer failing and needing to format (something which happens to regularly with this one - hense the hope for a new one soon).
As (at first at least) it definitely seems as though the online builder won't have full functionality. I'd like to be able to keep a working copy of the old one.
Is it as simple as selecting a location on the pen drive when you install it? Or is there more to it (to make it work on a different computer for instance)?
Install and update the CB. Then copy the installation program and the entire installation directory onto your pen drive. Keep that safe.
Test uninstalling the CB, then reinstall it. Do not update it this time. Copy the entire directory from your pen drive over the new installation. Try running the CB and see if it is complete.

I just copied the entire downloaded program directory onto another PC that didn't have the CB installed and it worked fine.

Didn't try it w/ the monster builder as it's currently pretty broken. I just don' see the point. Having said that, don't see why it wouldn't. The program architecture is similar.

I'm very surprised the program would work with a simple drive to drive copy. I'm certain there are registry entries that are important to the operation of the program that would need to go with the program files. There are backup programs out there that will make images of an entire drive and allow those to be self-restored.
I reviewed this a bit more. As long as .NET (3.5) is installed, a copy is typically sufficient since it's designed with the WPF.
Just do like everyone else is, go online and do a google search. You know what comes up at the top =/
I hate to recommend this, but yes. You can get a copy of it fully patched and ready to go at any point you like. Keep the unextracted file on a CD incase you need to reinstall it later.
