I currently do not have a printer for my laptop. Since the character sheet is its own format (which I am assuming works only on the Character Builder), it would be very useful for me to be able to save character sheets as a .pdf or a .jpeg file that are almost universal. Is any feature like this in the works?

AFAIK, there is an idea on the table for pdf functionality, but no promises have been made.

In the mean time, you can find a pdf printer to convert the files to pdf format. I've heard CutePDF works well.

I have to agree with Kenkaku, I am using my laptop at college and the only printers I have access to our lab computers. I doubt I could(or want to) install the Character Builder on a lab computer. It would be nice to be able to save it as a .pdf or .jpg. Just giving more support to such an idea. Thanks for the suggestion Dalzig.

Although...I guess I could place the character builder on a flash drive and transport characters and the Builder that way, then print on a lab computer.

You could always take some screenshots and splice them together in Paint. If you need something better than paint, try GIMP, a freeware photoshop variant.

Or download a PDF printer, and save it that way.

I installed CutePDF. It is a friendly installation and I endorse its use to others. Thank you, Dalzig.

I ran into the same problem; I do not have immediate access to a printer. It is silly (and highly unpractical) to install the DDI Character Builder on a different computer to print the work I did on mine. I encourage WotC to include the PDF Export feature.
