Am I missing something? (Str/Cha Powers for Paladin)

Hello all,

I was working on a strength-based paladin and picked a few powers that used either strength or charisma. The one that is jumping out at me is Ardent Strike.

There's no way to pick whether I want to use strength or charisma for the power though, and the power doesn't seem to "know" which one to use. It uses my terrible charisma for the attack roll, and my strength for the damage.

What am I missing? No one else is complaining about this so I assume it's something obvious.

You're not missing something - I just hadn't noticed that before. Good catch. Mine is doing the same thing.

After calling WotC, its a known bug. It cropped up at first in last months update with one of te Artificers powers. Divine Power & the new multi-stat Paladin powers just exacerbated the issue.

Annoying bug. It may have to be done like Dragon Breath or Eldritch Strike, and give you a choice of which stat to use.

Cancel that. Eldritch Strike and Eldritch Blast (!!) doesnt work either, it splits the stats even though you explicitly state what stat to use.

Specific bug: Damage is always calculated with the first stat listed in the 'hit' block, regardless of which is chosen for your class or which is highest.

If you have Eldritch Strike on a Charisma warlock, and choose Charisma, it will work correctly. If you have a Constitution warlock, and choose Constitution, the damage will still use Charisma.

Yes a check box or drop down list to nominate the stat to use would be nice...

I wonder if this is directly related to the bug where Heavy Thrown weapons use Dex for damage instead of Str.

Might be a more general damage calculation bug. I'll have to look at the multi-stat paragon powers.

EDIT : Yeah, several of the Paragon powers are borked in odd ways, but sometimes it's the hit stat instead of the damage stat that is messed up. Familiar keeper seems to have the issue, among others.

I'd noticed this too, and it's really irritating. I'm going to have to write in the corrected values for my Paladin. It isn't a big task to do that, but you would expect that they would give some effort into making it work a little better.
