Well, he just cancelled his DDi subscription:

The reasons he cites aren't anything different than what people have been saying here for months. And yet, the Failboat keeps steaming it's way in to Suckport.

Please get this ship turned around.

Apr 12, 2011 11:59:53 Well, some of the reasons he cites are the same – namely, the lack of compilations and the Exclusive article race (Revenant) and class (Assassin) showing up in Heroes of Shadow. But most of his reasoning is that there actually is too much content, rather than too little. He has enough to last him for years, because WotC's been churning it out really quickly.

The new, slower but better turn out actually should appeal to people like him.

Lately though, it just feels like content is coming in short spurts, or none at all. The website is posting interviews and new columns to fill the gaps, but it feels like something’s missing. Either way, I have tons of stuff that I’ll never get to, like I said, so that’s that.

The simple one, but yes, a more accurate assessment as to what initiated his leaving DDI.

So, the simple reason I didn’t renew my DDI this year (it just expired last week) is because my 4e home game died and I have no use for it.

The reason he and his group have moved away is that they're playing Dragon Age now. It's a shift of focus. Chances are, focus will shift again at some point.

I know for myself, personally, I tend to play whatever works at the time. Sometimes, it's D&D. Sometimes, it's Mouse Guard. Sometimes, it's Fiasco, or ICONS, or some other system. While I might not necessarily hone in on one specific system for long periods of time, I know others do, and that's going to inform their choice on where to spend their gaming dollar.

Who knows? Newbie may come back to ddi at some point in the future. It likely won't be tomorrow, but I wouldn't be terribly suprised.
