I have to say the online CB is good, although it is a little bit slower than the offline version. But I was very disappointed when I found the ipad, and even Android pads don't support silverlight at all.

I really want to use these convenient pads for gaming. Is there and chance I can use online CB on an ipad/ipad 2?

And if I recall correctly, the adventure tool is silverlight-based as well. This is an important DM tool (though the online version is not that useful right now).

I am not in the VT test, so I am not aware if it's using silverlight too. It would be great if all these useful tools can support pads, esp. this is a game for real ppl to sit together.

Assume for the time being that none of the tools Wizards will release will be available on at least the iPad. They're sticking with Silverlight for the same reason they're sticking to .NET. Their techies have their experience there.

I was curious about this myself so I googled "iPad Silverlight" and found this.

I really hope that happens. It would be huge shame for the push toward computer gaming aids that wizards has been doing, and which I really admire them for, missed out on what is probably the best form factor for a gaming aid ever created.

Unfortunately it looks like Microsoft is dialing down support for silverlight in general.

Shame on wizards for using a proprietary framework that has looked destined to fail since it's inception, you'd think that they would have learned their lesson after the uproar over lack of compatibility with the desktop app. I just hope that the character builder gets ported to be a true web app before Microsoft drops support for the browser version of silverlight altogether! We'll probably have several years before that becomes a problem, though.

In the meantime, there is a great compendium app and iplay4e.com works wonderfully for importing you dnd4e files to play your character in any browser, so as long as you have a computer to create and update your character, you can still forgo books and sheets at the table.

I would pay for an app.
