I'm getting a Visual Basic error when I try and access any article on the main website. Just wondering if it's on my end or some error has cropped up on the website itself.

Cool thanks. Want to read the new experts and stuff that came out today :D It's my 'just got home from work' tradition anymore. Read Bluesnews, check Videosift, go see whats new on D&DI and troll these forums :p

I have received word that the errors is because code is being pushed out to the WotC website.

Without turning this into a complaint thread, how often can we expect this to happen. We are about to enter the pay period and have an undertaking that future articles will be posted at 00:01 EST on the day of release. Have the articles we're trying to access today been posted or are they in the process of being posted. Either way, we don't have access at the time promised.

When (and no doubt for some, if) we start paying it would be good to know that these things are not going to happen.

These things are currently happening because they're part of implementing the new pay system.

Maintenance and upgrades happen. Right now a LOT is happening, to get us to where we need to be so the pay system will be stable.

The articles have been posted.

I have personally looked at them while I was posting the news item for each one. They were up and available at the promised time.

Also, I just double-checked and everything seems to be back in working order for the moment.

Yea they are up now yep. I hope when the pay system goes in things get smoother. Also does anyone know if there will be a way to buy Dragon & Dungeon on a 'per issue' basis? Like instead of paying for 'one month' you can wait till the entire issue is out and if you like what you see you can purchase those issues?

I personally will eventually probably be buying subscriptions on a 3 month basis, though IMHO the price is a little high for virtual magazines that I'll never hold in my hands, even if IMHO the content is very well done. I've no problem using a PDF editor to cut out all the boarders and pictures to print out adventures and articles I want a hard-copy of but I have a bit of a hard time paying paying $60 a year, though I know it includes a few things. It makes me worry that once the other tools are out what they'll cost.

This post has gone off topic but I'm of the opinion that unlike regular, non-virtual magazines you cannot cut prices so steeply for longer subscriptions. Making someone pay $8 for a virtual magazine they might want only one or two issues a year of, is a bit much to accept. It's like spending money on videos at youtube or something. Just doesn't 'feel' right. I'm fine with paying for good content, but I'd prefer to have something in my hands to represent the money spent. I just hope the entire D&DI price isn't something like $30 a month or something crazy.

Not likely EST (not counting AM/PM issue) was before VB error was discussed.

They were up this morning at 9AM Eastern when I got into work.

The VB error was, as I mentioned a couple posts up, due to some code that was being pushed out to the WotC website at the time.

It was 12:30 Eastern time. AM/PM, EST/ESZ, i'm not sure about.

It was 30 min past midnight, in New York, ok?
stupid time zones... we hates them, precious.

Anyways, thats when i checked for news of the day, and they were there, available and readable.

IIRC you use RSS feed, so you see them sooner then when they go live. Clearly I can not prove when the website first hosted the items, but any article live that does not work likely breaks the spirit of commitment if not meet the actual commitment.

The discussion about the compendium comes to mind, it was live on release but then gone for a much longer time.

I use the RSS feed to see when they get pushed, but read them from the website. Today, I read them this morning when I got into work.

I bet when WOTC is ready to get you to subscribe(Take your money) to beta test the tool everyone is waiting for, they won't wait until midnight EST to post that to the sight. The link to put in your credit card will be up and very clear on the site ASAP.
With all the downtime and updates lately I have a feeling its going to be very soon.

It took us a few hours to get some new code pushed out to our farm and get the cache's on every server cleaned up so that everything was working perfect. Sorry about that we only expected the interruption to last a few minutes. We did however experience a sync issue between a few servers that persisted overnight. It has now been fully resolved and you should no longer see these particular problems.
