| #2PlulopJan 07, 2010 18:18:14 | ...out of interest, how are you planning on adding a damage type to a non-damaging power? Sounds like it's WAI to me... |
| #3embertigerJan 07, 2010 23:09:52 | Arcane Admixture: Choose one arcane power that you know and choose acid, cold, fire, lightning or thunder. The power now deals that power type in addition to its normal damage type and gains that keyword. The only requirement for the power chosen is that it must be arcane. Several powers which don't do damage have damage type keywords (Sheild, Dragon Scales, Globe of Invulnerability, etc.). Adding a keyword can have other benefits besides augmenting damage (solid sound, resounding thunder). Add to that that the feat already works properly with cantrips and other similar class feature powers. Aside from RAW, flavor-wise what could be more mage like than altering and customizing your powers to make them unique and suprising? Why cast a simple Aegis of Shielding when you can cast Kyte's Thundering Aegis, using sound to push your shields beyond thier normal range? |
| #4sallaJan 08, 2010 3:03:30 | "In addition to" means the power must deal damage in the first place to be valid for Arcane Admixture. You can't have something deal damage 'in addition to' its original damage if there is no original damage to add to. |
| #5embertigerJan 08, 2010 19:36:39 | Yes, Salla, but that's not what I'm saying. The power could still gain the keyword even if it doesn't deal damage. This feat already works as I describe with several other class features and utility powers which don't deal damage, which is why I'm putting a post in this forum. |
| #6CailteJan 12, 2010 6:29:05 | It does seem that the power should get the keyword, regardless of the fact that there is no damage to gain the damage type. This does indeed appear to be a bug (though not one most people will encounter). Hmm neat trick with the Resounding Thunder btw considering how much of a pain that Burst 2 is for making the Aegis work. |
