I have found the content of the recent magazines to be a bit on the short side but pretty good content.  Even if it stays in this shortened state I don't think I'll cancel my subscription.

The new Assassin article was great, the Winning Races: Dwarves gave a better glimpse of what we can expect "Post-Essentials" than the two articles that went up today and were obviously tied to Heroes of the Fallen Lands' release: fun, usable toys that are stripped of unnecessary restrictions on use. It seems like a lot of the stuff was geared for Dark Sun, which I don't care about, and the previews are all about Gamma World, of which I have a sort of morbid curiosity but am unsure about.

Nah, that would be the july and august issues, which were unusually short on useful content. The new Assassin build more than justified this month of content, to me, and I found the pyromancer piece and today's magic item article pretty cool. Of course, I'm buying Essentials and don't mind finding content that depends on those books - the value of this month's magazine drops drastically if you consider Essentials-related stuff as blank space.

From a personal point of view, i have to admit there have been very few articles in the latest magazines, which i could actually use. The reason therefor is, that i dont use Darksun nor Essentials in my games at the moment.
The content itself on the other hand was quite ok for those players using the new products.
What i really dislike about the late content, is the way older projects are cast aside while unfinished to provide new additions to a brand new system that hasnt even been out for a full month.
Lets take the Essentials Assassin as an example: The class itself is well done as far as i can tell from the first look, but there was no real reason to introduce it at this point of time. Essentials beeing brand new and not yet properly played, there was no need for an additional class, especially when the original assassin is far from beeing balanced yet. The original assassin was introduced at a time, when many products had allready been published and it served well to keep the customers excited. The new version looks like the cherry on top of an allready big pile of cherrys.
My genral impression is that the latest articles are to hype the new content to an extend, that whouldnt have been necessary. On the other hand they lack a solid basis of content usefull to all customers. The company should make sure not to chase away those long time customers, by lacking content they desire, just in order to get some new subscriptions.

I can foresee making use of:
Class Acts: Battlemind

I can see people in my group in general making use of:
The Dwarf article
The Mul article
The Shadar-Kai article
The Assassin article
The Staff Fighting article
The Genasi Article
Bizaar of the Bizarre
The Pyromancer article

Not so much for me, but it's not all about me.

My view of this month is a bit skewed because none of the articles I was excited about turned out to be interesting to me at all. The shadar-kai one wasnt bad.

That said, there is a fair amount of good content that I can see getting use. I haven't been intrigued by an article like the pyromancer in a while, even if I do not like the Essentials direction. The new Assassin just further cemented that opinion. That said, its merely an opinion, plenty of people love the new Assassin.

That said, not too thrilled with the fiction and the fiction in the pyro-article. Its not really attractive to read 3 column walls of text in a PDF with nothing to break it up, not to mention, it doesnt really do anything but tell you about a good pyro.

This was the first month for a while where I wasn't shrieking at the lack of useful stuff, so I would have to say "nope".

(I would gladly lose all the fiction for more crunch though Cool)

Just as a note, while I agree on the Assassin article, Dwarves was gutted in compilation.

As was the Shadar-Kai article. And by gutted, I mean nothing of real use was added at all.
