| #1FangehSep 11, 2009 22:50:42 | So I've read the Heroic tier write-up for the Assassin class, and I think this works in really well with my drow rogue's backstory. I really think it would benefit my character to be a hybrid Assassin/Rogue. Does anyone know when the rules for that are going to crop up? Knowing the "formula" for most hybrid classes --- half the HP, learn skills of both, know weapons for both, equip shared armor, etc. --- but I'd rather have a real write-up. Is there an ETA on when that'll drop? |
| #2Dragon9Sep 11, 2009 23:11:02 | No official word on that. However, I wouldn't expect them prior to the hybrid rules being complete in the PHB3. If they come out before the PHB3 I would be surprised.
I am most surprised that they didn't give us the multiclass feat(s) with the heroic tier stuff. |
| #3FangehSep 11, 2009 23:39:58 | Well that would be pretty lame, especially since the Assassin won't be in the PHB3, as far I know. :P |
| #4_Mithreinmaethor_Sep 12, 2009 1:50:13 | But the final Hybrid rules will be. So what better a time to put out the Hybrid rules for the Assassin except for the time the Hybrid rules come out for every other class? |
| #5FangehSep 12, 2009 2:37:58 | I suppose that's a sensible argument. I would rather have them sooner, though. XD |
| #6LordArchaonSep 22, 2009 12:30:15 | I can't help it, I have to make some temporary rules for one or two of my players, if anyone wants to contribute, here's my general idea:
Base stats all as Wizard/Invoker except Weapon Proficiencies as Assassin, +1 Fort or Will, and +1 trained skill like Bard and Ranger. Assassin Shroud (Hybrid): As the Assassin's feature except you can only apply an Assassin Shroud once every other round (unless a power or feat specifies otherwise) and can only invoke your shrouds with an Assassin power. Shadow Step (Hybrid): As the Assassin's feature, but you can only use it once per encounter. Shade Form (Hybrid): As the Assassin's feature but you cann only use it once per day. HYBRID TALENT OPTIONS: Guild Training (Hybrid): As the Assassin's feature but you can only benefit from it when using an Assassin's power. Shadow Step: As the Assassin's feature, replaces the Hybrid version. Armor Proficiency: You gain proficiency with Leather Armor and Light Shields. --- [I thought that giving Guild Training as Hybrid Talent but still limited and making Shade Form irremediably daily were good represntations of the fact that you never gain complete control over your "shadow soul" when following the hybrid path...]
What do you think? EDIT: An interesting alternative to the implementation of Assassin's Shroud I wrote would be making it usable when you don't attack OR when you attack with an Assassin's Power, unless a feat etc specifies otherwise. This way you can still build it up fast when hidden. |
