#1 mightytev Sep 19, 2008 12:46:45	I've just sent this email to dndinsider@wizards.com. Can I encourage anyone that agrees with me to send something similar? Stuff like this really annoys me. To the bosses at D&D Insider Please could you release transcripts of podcasts alongside the actual podcasts? The podcasts aren't very accessible to your deaf/hard-of-hearing audience. I'm sure it wasn't your intention to exclude anybody, but this is effectively what you've done with audio-only podcasts. While I'm at it, the cute little cartoons you've posted could do with subtitles or something. Thanks,

However, I don't think they will. If they did, then it wouldn't (necessarily) be a podcast. See, podcasts are audio-only because their original intent was to be uploaded to your iPod to listen to them. Hence the name "Pod"cast. The cartoon videos could have subtitles added, certainly, but posting the script of the podcast would be more time consuming and would give people on the forums one more thing to gripe about WotC doing while the D&Di tools are still not live.

One more thing to gripe about? The lack of transcripts itself is a gripe, and on the forum no less. And whoever would be typing up a transcript - maybe an intern with a high typing speed? - probably wouldn't be someone working on the D&Di development team. Any gripe would be unfounded. I'm very aware what podcasts are, although obviously I don't "listen" to many. BBC and CNN podcasts often (but not always) have transcripts. And regardless of whether or not podcasters do offer transcripts, it's clear to see that they should. Maybe WotC could set a trend?
