Sorry if this has been asked and answered, but searches turned up nothing.

What is the best way in the Character Builder to place an item in a Bag of Holding or Haversack? Using "edit item," it's not possible to reduce an item's weight to zero. Plus, items thusly edited would not be indicated on the character sheet as being in the Bag/Sack.

I've also noticed that Bags and Sacks incorrectly affect the encumbrance value as shown on the character sheet.

It'd be great if some sort of fuctionality were built into the Builder in the future to allow it.

Thanks!

There is no way to amend the probelm, you also cannot put things on your mount either...

Thanks for the post.

Character Builder doesn't currently support the placement of items in different locations.  It only tracks item amounts, item abilities, and certain item effects on your character. (plus item costs, requirements, ect...)

Maybe you should create a "Nodwick" character -- a character whose sole purpose is to carry gear that is not meant to encumber your real PCs (because it is on a mount or in a bag of holding, etc.).  One advantage of this approach is that these items do not affect your primary character in any way (as the character actually needs to wear or wield items for them to affect his stats) -- but you have cards for them that you can print out and pass around as needed.

I reduced the weight of things to 1 until my PC was no longer encumbered.  (I put the correct weights in the notes.)  This causes my PC to be "houseruled in LFR", but that message only shows in the Character Builder, not on the printed sheets.

This would be a great feature to have added.

OK, I realize the production team probably many important things to do, but the absurdly minimilistic equipment management 'feature' is REALLY starting to drive me insane.
...

2) Regarding Carry Weight - My wizard is, according to the Builder, overburdened.  He has low strength, and is carrying around a huge list of supplies.  According to Builder, I am nearly 300 lb overburdened.

Funny thing is, I have a Handy Haversack and two bags of holding.

Now, the actual fix to this would, admitidly, be rather complex and would require an entire reworking of how equipment inventory is handled.

Quick Fix:
Bags of Holding should add 200 to your carry limit
Handy Haversacks should add 1000 to your carry limit

This quick fix should be quite straightforward to implement.  At the very least, you could probably change the item's weight to -199 and -999 lb each, at least in the behind-the-scenes code, which would presumably accomplish the same thing.
It might make things weird if you didn't have over 1000 lb worth of gear though....

...

Features that would be nice, and would make everyone's day much easier

a. Add some way to group items by category automatically (such as weapons, armor, wonderous items, and consumables).

b. Some way to designate where an item is (which container) would be nice, but the aforementioned Bag of Holding jurry-rig would still be fine with me.  The actual weight doesn't have to be calculated, just let me visually place items AFTER the bag of holding.
An option to indent items after a container object would be nice, that way you could add a +/- arrow next to containers to hide/show the contents.
