Hello All,

I am starting the Scales of War adventure path soon and have a player interested in playing the "Bahamut's Vessel" epic destiny.  How can I make this work?

To make it work properly the character would end up dieing on the 2nd to last adventure as they would replace Amyria as the vessel.  However, they would then miss out on the last two adventures.

Anyone else do this in their campaigns.  How did you make it work out?

Thank you for your replies.

Are you starting with Rivenroar?

If so, your player shoud be worried about Sinruth's Jackboot Stomp rather then his epic destiny. Seriously, unless you folks have many, many , marathon sessions you have at least 2 years of gaming ahead of you before it comes up.

First thought though...

Have Amyria get all the good warm nice energy and your player get all the fierce warrior energy. That way he can still go stomping around. Spin it so the only way they can truly kill tiamat is for your player to I dunno eat her heart as a coup de grace while he is in dragon form at 30th level. Thus allowing Bahamut to govern both his and her portfolios as Io once did.

I'd alter the last two adventures, something like this:
  • The PC goes to make the sacrifice, but he's too imperfect a vessel (for the moment).  He saves Bahamut from total destruction, but Bahamut cannot fully be reborn until something which was stolen by Tiamat is restored and the PC has perfected himself
    • So the PC adventures with the party through next adventure (the City of Brass seige).  The Exarch doesn't defeat Bahamut at the climax, instead he defeats Bahamut's awesome general.

    • Then, the final adventure, the PCs have to kill Tiamat because she's absorbed (somehow) Bahamut's essence.  When Tiamat is defeated, the PC absorbs the stolen power (and possible Tiamat's essence), being destroyed to restore Bahamut (or possibly Io).

  • Or, let the PC make the sacrifice and play one of Bahamut's vassals (a convienently mid-epic character in the same role as the PC).

But personally, I would favor the first one.
