The Whirling Slayer feature for barbarians: "You can wield a one-handed weapon in your off hand and treat it as an off-hand weapon" The Hurl Weapon feat: "You can use and one-handed off-hand weapon as a heavy thrown weapon" When using the character builder, it does not allow a one-handed weapon (battleaxe etc.) to be used as a heavy thrown.  A battleaxe in the offhand should count as offhand for the barbarian, and therefore should count as heavy thrown.
