The TOC for dragon 367 got updated and no longer includes the Barbarian play-test article ... I guess that means it's getting delayed a month. Perhaps it wasn't quite ready to be play-tested yet ... still I'm disappointed.

Or maybe they'll release it independently from the magazines, as a site feature or book excerpt. One can only hope.

If it wasn't ready for playtest, it shouldn't have been announced as coming up in this months issue in the first place, and now that its removed, there should have been some explanation given. I'd be a lot more forgiving of the decision if there was some comment saying "Hey, you know that Barbarian playtest preview we told you about? Umm, its not quite ready to go public just yet." Instead, we get silence, and in that communication vacuum rumors are bound to spread about why the decision was made. I'll leave my thoughts on what the reason seemed to me to be for a different thread.

Personally I'm less bothered by the Barbarian article than I am by the Eberron one, especially after they did the same with last months one.

But, here's the thing. When those tables of contents are posted, they're making a promise of content to their customers. Soon to be PAYING customers. When someone at WotC decides not to release a given article, they're breaking that promise. There may or may not be a good reason, but they haven't given us one. When they don't even bother to give an explanation for the change, that's really great for public relations... Do they actually want us to pay for this kind of service or not? This kind of thing is just putting me off bothering. Why should I pay in advance when the advertised content repeatedly gets delayed without any explanation?

I have a feeling that they put it off until the paying model is up. So it will give people a reason to subscribe to the magazine model sub fee.

I suspect it's more an issue of not wanting to release more than a single major new rules item per month. Spread out (and alternate) races and classes to give each individual article more buzz.

Given how excited people were over the Barbarian, it might even be working already.

LOL. So, basically delayed to generate more hype after already teasing us with it. If true, not cool. Not cool at all.

Maybe WoTC plans to charge us for each article we want to read and since this one has so much hype they moved it to their soon to be announced "pay as you read program". All designed for our convenience of course.

There is already several threads (here, here and here, from most recently active to oldest) in the Dragon/Dungeon General discussion forum on this topic, which is the proper place for this topic.

Any further discussion should take place in one of those threads.
