#1 krewl Mar 20, 2011 15:09:38	I just went to adjust my Battlemind for leveling up to level 7.  When I attempted to retrain my level 5 daily to "Beckoning Strike" I found that the previously specified "Beckoning Strike Attack" at-will power, that can be used while in this stance, was now a daily. Is this intended?  If so will the same fate come to "Steel Unity Strike"? Please don't further hinder opportunity actions of us poor Battlemind tanks! Krewl

Krewl This is a case of specific beats general.  The "Effect" for "Beckoning Strike" says: You assume the beckoning stance. Until the stance ends, you can use the Beckoning Strike Attack power. At this point you can safely ignore the fact that "Beckoning Strike Attack" is displayed as a daily power, because it's just listed as part of the ability it is connected to which IS a daily power.  Follow the rules listed in the "Effect" and you'll be fine. I'm sure there was someone out there who was using "Beckoning Strike Attack" without having used "Beckoning Strike" the daily power so for clarity they made both have the same usage (daily).

Nothing about that say's you don't expend the power, or you recharge it. Otherwise druids A character can use a beast form power only while in beast form Would be able to use there encounter (dailies?) powers repeatedly. Though either way, it's off topic.  Beckoning Strike Attack is a daily in the compendium.  If it's different from what's in the book, then there's an issue with the CB.  If it's the same, then you might wanna post on the errata forum for being a lame power.

This is why specific trumps general.  The general rule is that daily powers can only be used once per day.  The stance granted by Beckoning Strike specifically allows you to use Beckoning Strike Attack as long as the stance is active.  Expending and/or recharging are mechanics that apply to the general rule and thus don't apply.
#8 krewl Mar 21, 2011 17:27:39	There are great inconsistancies with these types of daily powers for Battleminds. Steel Unity Strike (Level 1): Daily that allows at-will to be used. Beckoning Strike (Level 5): Daily that allows a daily to be used?  Don't believe this is the original printed rule for this power and there has been no errata changing it.  Can anyone confirm this in the PHB3? Shattered Time (Level 9): Daily that allows a daily to be used.  Have not myself seen this printed any other way.  Can anyone confirm this in the Psionic Power book? According to the OCB the secondary powers seem to get worse depending on level.  The level 1 can be used at will while the level 9 can only be used once?
